I can't believe that Rachel was seen as being cold and remote during the competition. That video proves that she's not arrogant at all.

Never, ever understood the cold/remote thing though, she always seemed really warm and friendly to me, and particularly supportive of the other girls. I think perhaps she didn't have as extrovert a personality as some of the other contestants which cast her automatically and unfairly in a negative light.

However, I think some people (not me ) took against her for the "understudy" comment about Fran in the first couple of weeks, which made her (apparently) seem arrogant. I never took it that way--I thought it was (1) a statement of fact; (2) a compliment of Fran: and nothing to do with bigging herself up at all. There's a fine line between confidence and arrogance and I think Rachel ALWAYS stayed on the right side of it. But in shows like these, there is definitely a "personality"/"likeability" element, and confidence in one's own ability, regrettably, doesn't always sell as well as being unsure of oneself.

I agree with you 100% Smeagy28!

Plus I think the comment about Fran being her understudy was more to highlight the fact that even though they are both professinals it doesn't give them any advantages in the competition!

But i suppose people interpret statements in many different ways!!
