Jo Joyner - sore loser?
I couldn't help but notice last night that as Emma Rigby came down to collect her award for Best Actress, the BSAs cut to a shot of a rather stony-faced and sullen Jo Joyner. Perhaps this was selective editing on ITV's part but she really did come across as a bad loser.
The best girl won in my opinion, though the choice of clip of Emma after she picked up her award was a poor one. |

Jo Joyner is one of the last people I would suspect to be a sore loser. She comes across as such a nice person. The editing last night was terrible, they pretty much made everybody who didn't win an award look miserable.

She came across as a gracious winner to me last night when she name checked Charlotte in her speech when she won her award.

Sorry, but isn't she allowed to be a little disapointed on losing out? Best Actress, not sure they gave it to the right person. Either way, no need for stiring it up like this.

Nevertheless IndigoGirl, since you have on several occasions made your dislike of Emma Rigby clear there is no point arguing with you. |

But if anyone is "stirring it up" it was ITV by its choice of camera shots.

She comes across very gracious and lovely in interviews etc. I thought she was very lovely in her comments about Charlotte. Anyway, I cant say I did see her look disapointed but as you say the editing was awful last night. Many of the cast, regardless of what soap they belonged to, looked like they had faces like smacked arse. I'd rather had Jo win the award because she has been consistantly great and I find her a complete natural in what ever she does but pleased with the result nevertheless. Jo got best dramatic performance so its great that both actresses walked away with something. |

ITV's crap editing
I think the whole show suffered from seriously bad editing. Watch EE winning best soap in the DS clip and compare it to the ITV version. ITV are pants! I think the BBC and ITV should take turns at hosting the show just like the BAFTA's.
However as for Jo being a sore loser. If she was such a sore loser then she would not have praised Charlotte in Emmerdale or have spoke highly of Emma after the awards show.

[quote=KatrinaK;23549463]Totally agree. Jo Joyner, a sore loser? She's the last person you'd expect to be miffed of about someone elses gain.

I also think that the results, regardless of the winners, were given out methodicly. Something about the way this years awards were handled and the press coverage days before that makes me think something not right here and that is not because Emma won Best Actress... just the whole set up start to finish. |

Why do you think Antony Cotton got nominated? |

That's not going to happen as the British Soap Awards are ITV's creation.

Noway was she a sore loser! She smiled when Emma's name was read out. And when she won BDP she even mentioned Charlotte, she is the least person to be bitter and moody at not winning. Jo is lovely, she looked happy for Emma.

The only "audience" present at the BSAs were the soap actors themselves and they're not going to say anything for fear of losing their cushy employment. If ITV had admitted an audience of Joe Public to the recording, there may be someone who could post here with details of what really happened. |
