Barbara Windsor accepting the Soap Award
Why does Barbara Windsor always accept the Soap Award? She hasn't been in it as long as Pam St Clements or June Brown. I think if anyone should accept it, it should be Adam Woodyatt.
I can't help but feel that she pushes her way to the front. Obviously it's always decided who will talk beforehand, but I can't see why it can't be done in turn. Home and Away has won the Logies for years, and they seem to do it in turn. Last year it was Ray Meagher, but this year it was Lynne McGranger. It should be taken in turn like that. |

Barbara Windsor is EE's on-screen representative and spokeswoman its not about turns maybe June and Pam don't want to fill that role and feel that Barbara is the right person for the role.

Barbara Windsor shoudn't be the spokesperson, it should be all of them sharing that title, especially amongst the long serving characters. Stephen McFadden has been there longer than she has. |

Really? I'm very shocked at that. I did see June Brown there, she would be a much better choice to accept the award.

I always get the impression that she thinks she's bigger than the show. |

Gob on legs! Couldn't have put it better myself. What a tantrum there would be if someone else said I'll accept the award.

Maybe they want her to do it? I used to wonder why, but if the cast say let Babs do it, so let her... isn't harming anyone is it?

When they were walking towards the stage June Brown was in front of Barbara Windsor. I thought we were finally going to hear from someone else but no the "gob on a stick" was given the job again. I don't know how they'll cope once she's no longer in the show

Sour grapes. Give Babs credit, the show was on its knees before she returned.
![]() Dot and Pat have never been central characters. Peggy Mitchell is EastEnders.

Self-appointed publicist and resident gob on a stick, it seems to me.

I don't get that impression at all. She's always very grateful and loyal to the show. I just think the cast and crew want Babs to make the speeches and as she's good at this sort of thing, what harm does it do?

Im of the opinion that Babs should be axed from acceptance speeches and axed from EE. She has outstayed her welcome at the queen vic IMO.

It annoys me how she always gets to do the speech, they should take turns, her speech is the same every year, getting boring now.
I know that she is gracious when she mentions the other soaps but i dont ever remember corrie saying well done everyone else, she should praise her own show rather than the others. I would love to see Steve Mcfadden accept the award, or maybe one of the younger actors/actress's they are the main focus of the show now. She does rush up to front though, june waited for her on the stairs she hugged her and ran past her to the stage!! |
