Digihome PVR 160 lost sound :(
native
12-05-2008
Hi,
I've got an Digihome 160 GB and I've got a problem: sometimes when it is in timeshift the volume is lost. The same problem appear when I play something which was recorded. If I rewind few seconds, everything seems to be OK for a while when the volume is lost again.
I change the unit 3 times (I send it back and they send me a new one), but was pointless.
Actually I think is something wrong in my house, but I don't know what
Can anybody give me a clue, please?
Thanks!

I've experienced the same problem with this pvr so I don't think it is an issue with your home setup.

Leaving the pvr in standby when not being used for longer periods (eg overnight) has provided a partial solution for me. The sound still drops out occasionally but generally it is O K.

Not an ideal situation I know, but it may be of some help.

Thank you for your solution, but rewinding every half hour or sometimes often it's annoying . Plus I have to skip the advertising brakes

Which software version does your PVR160 have installed?

The software is v.4.4(UK) - build on 2006-08-23 15:28:09
It says is not a new version If I search for update.

That's because it will only pickup new versions that are currently being broadcast OTA, and the last broadcast was over a year ago. Anyway, if you feel up to upgrading it via the serial port on the back of the unit you may well find a more recent version will at least help, if not solve, this issue. See this thread to download the v5.6 software.

Vestel T810 and Digihome PVR 160 have the same firmware?
Thank you!

Thank you very much!
Now I've got another question, please. I use a MacBook (so no serial port)... Do you know how can I connect the unit to the computer and how can I transfer the file to unit, please?

You should be able to get a USB->RS232/Serial dongle for the MacBook which will allow you to connect the two once you have a suitable cable (RS232/serial extension cable - not a null modem cable). Then you'll need some software on the MacBook - something which does what Hyperterminal on the PC does - I'm not familiar with Mac software, but I'm sure there will be some, if not built into the OS, available for free somewhere.

Hi,

Just discovered my backup box has this loss of sound problem.
I upgraded my main box back in 2006 and cannot find the file for the life of me.

None of the links work anymore. Does anyone have the file lying around please.?

TIA

The now latest v5.7 software can be found here. v5.7 is single record.

Thanks Futaura, I've downloaded the 5.7 version from your site a few minutes ago.

I was looking for the unofficial twin record version, which you have idenified as V1.0. The file is no longer at that link.

Does 5.7 allow twin record.?

Ok - try reloading the page I linked to. Should work now. v5.7 is single record.
