Piper333, apparently Sam's the only one with MT this week because the girls chose their own songs (how true that is I don't know!)
I still can't help thinking about why on earth Jodie would pick 'Holding out For a Hero'. The two main things she's been criticised for are overacting, and tendancy to lean towards cabaret. Surely that song will provide avenues to both accusations? I figure they've maybe had some direction in what their song must convey (ie. ability to dance, ability to show feistyness...), so maybe Jodie had to pick an upbeat number. But it makes me worried. I really want Jodie to do well! I hope she can go out there and prove me wrong. I think she'll be safe though. She has a huge fanbase.
I'm still in two minds about Defying Gravity too. I think because I know and love Wicked, the song has a lot of meaning to me. But I forget how many people aren't obsessive musical fans- how many people will have actually heard the Wicked OST? If Sam does a decent performance a lot of people will have no basis for comparison and will either love her performance, or be less inclined to vote because they don't know the song. If she does a mediocre performance the Wicked/Idina/Kerry/etc fans are going to be screaming blue murder, but to those who haven't seen/heard Wicked it could still appear to be a good performance.
Rachel's going to have to pull something out of the bag to redeem herself to the judges this week. I just hope she doesn't go back to steely staring and outstretched arms. I enjoyed her performance last week. I will always love you is a song everyone has heard before, so this could either go in her favour to a great extent, or secure her a place in the bottom two.
Naimh's song this week I'm really looking forward to. I hope she puts her all into the acting side of the performance. Could potentially keep her out of the bottom two.
Jessie... we don't know what she's singing other than the fact it's a ballad. The pannel will likely love it because it won't involve movement.
