Converting videos for iPod - Using widescreen aspect ratio

We have a DVD Recorder that we use to record programmes from our Sky Digibox. Playing any widescreen programme works fine on the DVD Recorder but if I play the DVD in another player, it always displays it in 4:3 ratio and I have to manually select widescreen mode on the TV (if possible).

I've recently bought an iPod Touch and have downloaded 'Videora iPod Touch Converter' and 'DVD Decrypter'. I have a TV programme on a DVD I want to put on my iPod so I used 'DVD Decrypter' to transfer the programme to my hard drive in just one VOB file. I then went into 'Videora' and asked it to convert the video to iPod using all the default settings but unfortunately when I came to play the completed video, it was in 4:3 ratio. I've looked round at the settings on Videora but can't find any easy way of telling it to convert a 4:3 recording into 16:9. Is there a way of doing it?

clonedvdmobile allows you to zoom into pictures, worked well with some documentary i recorded from sky that was in 4:3

I use a program called Madz dvd to Ipod converter. Their site looks dodgy but honestly, it isn't! The trial allows you 4 free rips to rip straight to Ipod format, so give it a go and see how you find it.
