Michael: "Whats 10% of 450"

In unseen footage on the BBC site Michael breaks off from an attempted cake sale to ask Alex "What's 10 per cent of 450 (pounds)?"

Does Michael have any ability whatsoever or just lots of front and bluster? Would you feel confident spending over £600 for a cake and stand when the person selling it plainly can't manage primary school maths?

Same amount of mathematical acumen as Kevin trying to work out how many tomatoes he'd need in the Pub Grub task.

10% of 450 equates to 1 in 45 which seem to be the odds against Michael being fired. Grrrrrrrr.

i think you will find that 10% of 450 equates to 1 in 10, not 1 in 45... but 1 in 45 has to be michaels odds to win

well done - seems like Michael's not the only one who can't do maths. Stones and glasshouses springs to mind.

Well- whaddaya expect? I went to Edinburgh university. Doh. But I did French- so I would have been fine last week. Anyway percentages aren't strictly maths- they are ARITHMETIC. Different subject -so there!
lol.

Arithmetic is the most basic part of mathematics. It's certainly not a different subject.

What did you think it was? Inorganic chemistry?

Actually- I think you'll find that in Scotland they study arithmetic seperately to maths. I know I did-and hve O grades in both.
In the same way that French and Spanish are both modern foreign languages-but not the same subject.
So there, cheeky monster

You'd think Michael thought so from the trouble he had with it.

Strangely enough, I suspect he was asking Alex because not only could he not work out 10 per cent of 450 in his head, he didn't know how to do it on the calculator either! He'd been using a calculator until then.

lol at everyone's comments. Seems I should have said 'primary school arithmetic' instead of 'maths' - whoops

Arithmetic is very definitely part of maths, just as French and Spanish are languages and would be in the language department of a university.

I know, his attitude to others is appalling. I can't believe they don't pick up on his insincerity.

I apologise for being so unkind - in my humble opinion the male contestants appear to be as thick as three short planks.

I think you meant 'probably'.

Raef and Alex are not stupid.

The stupid contingent is lead by Claire and consists of her, Lee, and Lucinda, with Michael and Helene pressing for membership.

Is Lucinda stupid?
And Alex must be stupid- he wears a hat indoors.

Hah. Got you there Vivid, with your so clever monotonous rants about Claire being stupid and chavvy and Northern and fat and lucky. Alex not only wears a hat indoors - he wears a stupid hat that makes him look like a Flowerpot Man. So he's double stupid.

Vivid also said Lindy was ugly when in fact she was the fittest female contestant (I think he meant black, but to him it's the same thing). Who's stupid now?

But not in Scotland. It's treated as a seperate subject. Which was my original rather silly point.
Maths needs arithmetic.
So does chemistry, accounting-and even music.
But it has a right to be its own seperate subject. I'm thinking of starting the Arithmetic Rights Society. ARS.

But I think they do, that's possibly part of the reason why no one bought anything from him

They are all thick as one another. I have not seen one bit of common sense from anybody yet.

True, although the wedding dress designer said he'd be happy to have Michael sell his products.
