Loss of sound on Sony Walkman (20gb)

Sound cut out of left earphone so I naturally assumed it was the earphones themselves which had broken so bought a replacement pair. Still no sound from left ear, then a week later the right ear - no sound at all.

Any ideas what could be the prob? I didn't drop or bash it either - it's my baby with a shedload of albums on it.

might be a loose 3.5mm socket that needs soldering.

My NW-HD3 is still perfect. However I seldom use it.

I agree it's probably the connections on the headphone jack that have come loose.

Let me guess... Sonic Stage? That's the reason I don't use mine any more.

So should l leave it in at a Sony Shop to be repaired? I hope it doesn't cost too much, I'm skint!

Thanks for your replies guys.

I haven't opened mine up but it may be something you can do yourself, or get a mate to do (if they are technically competent).

The only experience I've had of their repair service was free (nice and quick too) as it was because of a factory recall. Look at this web page they may be able to give you pricing over the phone.

Sonicstage is fine as is the new one called Connect(or whatever).
Using Atrac the sound is amazingly vibrant so if its my own CD I used atrac.
