I KNOW the girls did NOT get to choose which songs they sang this week!
So why oh why do the BBC lie and say that the girls chose their own songs?

Im not sure whether they do or not!! But I don't think Jessie would have chosen what she sang!!

Because they are trying to make out like they are not manipulating things back stage. Which is of course exactly what they are doing.

I did wonder about that. I found it difficult to believe that Jodie would have chosen 'Holding Out For a Hero' as a quarter final song...

I'm not sure how accurate this is but I'm sure someone who posts here and knows Sam said that 'Defying Gravity' was on the shortlist of songs she wanted to sing from when she first got into the final twelve- maybe each girl had a shortlist and the BBC picked one from it?

No but i have a good source!!! Direct from horses mouth! Was advised girls getting to pick their own songs this week - or last week as it is now.

I believe they did - or some of them certainly did - put it like that - dont no if they had a list to pick out of but believe final choice was their own doing! What me been told and I believe it!

Nobody agreed to say they had picked them?
The BBC announced it and there is nothing the contestants can do about it!
They were picked as each week by ALW and his possie!!
Sams song she got was on her shortlist of songs that she wrote down when she first got picked for the nancy house!
Each girl had to list 12 songs they really thought would be good to sing. Some of the girls have been given these songs throughout the show...

Only some of them?? Again??!! So some of them had a hand in the selection on Saturday and some didn't, some have had some of their own chosen songs and some have'nt-- nothing like a level playing field then!

Going back to your original question - can anything be done about it? and if so, what?

Well surely if the songs they sang on Saturday were from a shortlist of the girls preferred songs, then they did choose their own song on Saturday. I don't see your problem, and think you're being a bit pedantic. Sorry.

Actually I had no problem with it.
What does MrSpielberg working on the show have to do with Jodies song, unless you're so blinkered you can't think of anything that isn't a slight against Jodie?

I was just asking. I assumed that as you seemed slightly annoyed that apparently they didn't pick their own songs that you weren't pleased with your own favourites performance maybe due to the song, that's all.

So your saying me knowing MrSpielberg works on the show is some sort of indication that I didn't like a song. That's stretching credulity a bit far isn't it?

Because ALW is trying to hide the fact that he is manipulating the entire show so Sam wins with Rachel second.

Mr. Spielberg I believe you know what you are talking about, due to who you are, but at the same time, perhaps they can fiddle with the word choose, because they did come from a compiled list that the girls liked and were familiar with?

I don't know...it is still more choosing than having a song totally thrust on them that they are not at all familiar with.

So are we saying that some have been allowed to use there list and others haven't or what?

Jessie was accused of having made a bad choice - guess this was on her list but was she given a choice as to whether she sang that in this weeks show?

There was a similar point made at the weekend. I couldn't even begin to find it now. But, I think that when they drew up these lists and whether the girls realised they might be restricted to songs on the list in the future is key to whether there was an equal "choice" for Saturdays song. They might have thought that the show would choose plenty of MT songs so they could just put pop on their list. Still think Sam's choice was inspired and I'm not knocking her with this. She's not the one doing the manipulation here.

When told they were going to be the final 12 the girls each had to write a list of songs they liked and thought could sing well! They didnt have long to think about it, just an afternoon!
Some of the songs they have been told to sing at various times. The never got to choose when. And soemtimes they got given a song not on their list!
This week one or two of them got songs off their list and the other didnt!!!!!!!
Jessie, Rachel and Jodie certainly didnt !
