Oh dear. The suspense over whether Jodie has escaped the sing off will be awful if we don't hear anything.

Hopefully someone will hear something. People are always checking other forums, it seems.

At least we'll have the highly entertaining Eurovision to take our minds off it for a while. I'll probably start checking DS after that.

Andy Abrahams from X-Factor is the singer, but I haven't heard the song.

I don't think the song we're singing really matters (I wouldn't know it if I heard it anyway!) - we don't win. We're lucky to get any points. The rest of Europe appears to hate us! I think we were near the bottom of the score board last time and (I think it was last year, but might have been another), of the 2 or 3 countries that gave us some points was France!

At the risk of sounding really boring there was an article on Radio 4 about the voting last night.

It is not really to do with hating us or voting for your neighbour or anything like that. What it is down to is that each country can't vote for itself and the countries that vote for each other all have very high levels of immigrants and their descendants.

So for example Germany always gives Turkey high marks because there are hundreds of thousands of Turkish immigrants in Germany. The same sort of thing with Serbia, Greece, Cyprus and Lithuania, etc. So they are not really voting for their neighbours, but their country of origin.

Now that the competition is open to so many countries the UK, France and Ireland are unlikely to ever do well now for this reason.

A few years ago, I knew someone who used to get really annoyed about Wogan always going on about Greece and Cyprus voting for each other. She pointed out that the style of music/song each produces probably appeals to the other because of their shared culture or whetever, and that it's not just a case of blindly voting for the other. I think she had a point and it had never actually occurred to me before. Though I still suspected there was some sort of reciprocal patriotism going on.

But I like your suggestion better BuddyB!
