Jodie is massively underrated by certain people! I think she's a big threat to people.

BTW - nice people who like Sam/Jessie/Rachel are more than welcome to post replies on here!

yes opinion is healthy as is debate.......if you have to get into the gutter with personal attacks.....thats not what the room is about...

probably Sam is the only one i'd say is overrated, though i can see how some might feel Jessie and Rachel are as well

The thing is - Sam gets so many positive comments from the panel - they are lulling her into a false sense of security.

don't get me wrong - she's good - just not as good as she's being led to believe!

I agree that Sam seems to be the only one overrated. The rest of the girls have had a mix of good and bad comments while Sam has had only good comments.

(I laughed my ass off on saturday when Rachel was told she could take some tips from Sam, in my opinion, DVO can take some tips from ALL the girls!)

Personally think Jessie is overrated...She seems to look lost on stage and like you can see her thinking about what to do next......

Sam is in my opinion very over rated. I don't like her singing. Jessie has had some wow moments and Rachel is currently being walloped by the panel. Jodie is consistently good and suits the rol best IMHO.

I really like Sam, but I can see how the panel's comments annoy people. At least Jessie and Rachel have started to recieve criticism where it's due, whereas Sam just seems to do no wrong in the judge's eyes - and I'll admit that her performances do have flaws, just like all the others.

Jessie was definitely overrated to start with by the panel, but in recent weeks they've been critical of her more and more. While I'm happy to see her getting a bit more realistic feedback I think the panel's opinions have been more muddled than ever and I think it's confusing Jessie a lot. Jessie has a tendency to take the comments too hard/become too defensive and argumentative, though.

I don't think Rachel is overrated now - she was at the start. IMO she was far more emotionless and connectionless at the beginning of the series, when no-one mentioned it; and funnily enough once I start to find a little warmth in her performances the panel starts to pick up on it. I didn't think DVO telling Rachel, the older pro, to take a leaf out of Sam's book would have helped matters, particularly as I think there is a bit of tension between them.

I think Sam is completely overrated by the panel. I think she has a reasonable voice, can move quite well and has a powerful belt (if not always on the right notes), but her pitching is very dodgy and her lower register is quite awful. She's not the worst out of everyone but nor is she the best, and it annoys me when the panel go on about her being the best thing since sliced bread when there are obvious problems. It's not helping Sam to progress if all she gets is sycophantic praise every week.

I feel the panel have a lot of responsibility in this and not sure if its ALW pulling the strings. But to keep giving feedback which you can hear is not the truth is not fair on the girls they are judging. When the critics get a hold of them they will slaughter them, thats not fair......their confidence will nose dive.........

I've only been watching the performance videos and not anything backstage or any of the judges remarks, so I don't know if that means that I'm not biased, or that I'm not well informed?

Anyhow, I do think Jessie is somewhat overrated. I like her voice a lot but she has a terrible posture that I find really distracting. She often lacks passion and attack and I find her routines very samey. If I close my eyes she's great though.

Rachel I find to overact, but more importantly, she's never in tune enough.

I do like Sam. I think some of the song choices have been ridiculous (Survivor? That's practically rap. Since U Been Gone? This is a singing competition, not a screaming competition). But when she's on form (e.g. Sway and Defying Gravity) I think she's amazing. Her voice is beautiful, her body and appearance are flawless IMO, and most importantly, she has a great stage manner. And I hasten to add that I'm not influenced by forums, by other people or by the judges, because I haven't been involved/watched any of them. much at all.

Jodie... I don't have much of an opinion on her really. Her voice is nice (although far too nasal this week) and she has a bubbly stage persona. Maybe a little too 'homely' for my liking? Not sure. What do Jodie fans think is her best performance?

I'm completely unbiassed. Jodie is the girl in the street come good. I think she has a big following. Sam is, for me, the most naturally talented of the others in all areas and the most improved too, but she isn't someone we could all imagine being (which Jodie most of us could...if we could sing, that is). I don't mind if either win.

Jessie is odd. She is talented but, like Keith in Joseph, I would prefer to listen to her than have to watch her.

Rachel just looks hard and unfeeling. I'm not saying she is.......but she looks it and unless she changes that the votes won't come her way. I cannot warm to her at all. Not one iota.

I know Niamh hasgone but I have to pass comment on her. I thought she shouldn't be Nancy but she was my favourite 'girl' . I do hope she is really successful in achieving what she wants in her career. I'd pay to see her and I thought her rendition of another suitcase was beautiful, and original.

At the moment, Sam is massively overrated, more so than any of the other contestants at any stage during the competition. I think it's only been in the past 4 shows, however. Since Week 4, I think the show has been ever so slightly engineered to give Sam the limelight and ensure her eventual victory. The engineering is working and becoming more blatant as the weeks go by. I'm actually pleased the favouritism is so obvious--it generates a teeny weeny bit more support for the other contestants.

Rachel and Jessie have been, in my opinion, both overrated AND underrated by the panel and ALW at various points in the competition.

Rachel's been excellent in the past couple of shows, yet criticised; and she's clearly the best actress, which is barely ever mentioned. In her "blip" week (For Once In My Life IMO) she was praised. Rachel's my favourite and has been from the start, but I did feel at that point that she wasn't being given constructive criticism but made to think she could do no wrong which definitely wasn't in her favour. Since the sing-off, she has improved dramatically, showing that she can cope with adversity and pressure admirably. In my opinion, that is, but I'm a bit biased. Hope you don't mind!

Jessie's a bad actress, again never mentioned, but I like to give credit where credit's due and the judges no longer point out that she sings beautifully and strongly and has fewer tuning issues than the others. I think her weaker points are covered over and excused by the judges, which differentiates her from Sam as her weaknesses are praised as major strengths! Quite bizarre.

Jodie, I think, has had the fairest run, and I've tended to agree with the judges' opinions--with the exception of the disastrous comment this weekend (but let's not get into that). She's still in the competition not because of any engineering or manufacturing by the production team, but on talent and the support she has won, and my hat goes off her for that.

Essentially, I think Jodie and Rachel are in the final four on their own merits; Sam and Jessie have had some help along the way, and Sam significantly more than Jessie.

Sam is totally overrated. She's got a great voice, but it is a pop voice, she is alot more "pop" that musical theatre which really comes through when she's singing a MT song. She is a fantastic mover and she's got a great voice, but acting wise, I think she is vert weak, smiling smugly or shouting is not acting, but I do think she's very talented just overrated with both the judges and the audience IMO.

I thought Jessie was very underrated by the panel (less so by ALW) for the first two or three weeks when I thought she was blowing the other girls off the stage. DVO certainly seemed to be sniping at her. Then all of a sudden they suddenly started prasing her to the skies as if that is what they'd be doing all along. I'm with you otherwise though.


I'd largely go along with that. I was beginning to detect an improvement just as the panel suddenly got critical. I thought on Saturday she did slip back again though with a weak performance and then her sing-off was just like going through the motions - she could have been singing absolutely anything.


I'm largely with you there too. However I feel she has put in a string of poor performances of late, with one being as bad as any of those heard from anyone in the first three weeks of the show (and there were some shockers there, let us not forget), so I do feel she is the worst of those left.

Oh - and i think Sam is really massively overrated, and rachel, although she is growing on me, she has been overrated as she has hit some bad notes and had tuning probs.

I really don't think ALW or the judges are doing her any favours either by lying to her. They keep saying her performances are great even when they are really bad, with big vocal probs, and by doing this they are preventing her from improving. How can she improve if they don't tell her the faults she has. Also, it will be very harsh for her when the critics get hold of her if she does win this part, as they won't pull their punches and she will be totally unprepared for their comments.

I find myself wondering if the panel (or their minions) read the posts on this forum. All the comments about Rachel not connecting with the audience appeared on here before they started being spouted by the panel - at precisely the time that I started to warm towards Rachel! Tut tut. I really think they should make their own minds up and NOT be influenced by things they read on DS...
