Need 2 small speakers for Home Theatre
Thought it would be easy....
Have an old Acoustic Solutions home Theatre system with "Tallboy" speakers. Just changed my tellly & the speakers look ridiculous & get in the way. Just wanted 2 small speakers to replace the front two so's I can put them neatly in the glass stand. Where can I buy 2 ordinary speakers with cable connectors that would do? Thanks in advance Phil |

Don't put your speakers inside the glass cabinet:-
They will create a ridiculously small sound field The cabinet will induce audible vibration The speakers won't be properly supported and what sound field you have will be muddied and lose coherence. In all probability they won't match your Acoustic Solutions amplifier. You would be much better off going for a complete small speaker solution which is properly matched and includes it's own amplifier. Acoustic Solutions are not well known for their sound quality, merely their cheapness. Look at something with sufficient inputs to meet all your needs too. Why not look at something like a complete JBL, Creative Soundworks, Cambridge or Logitech solution? Their systems are reasonably priced according to quality, well respected, and sound great. Richer Sounds are one of the few companies that sell great quality kit at ridiculously low prices with shops nation wide where you can audition most, if not all of them. Try these complete solutions [click] which add Kef, Yamaha, Tannoy and Mordaunt Short which are equal or better than those I've listed above (note - some may require a separate suitable AV amplifier/receiver). |

Seems much easier to buy a complete package, rather than just the 2 front speakers. Completely correct in your observations re acoustic Solutions, & that was one of the main motivations for buying it in 1st place (cheapness)..... that & the need for two tall speakers to match the tv at the time. Replaced my Sony 44" Rear Projection for a 50"" Samsung Plasma, which sits on a glass shelf type stand- .... which is open shelved, rather than having a closing glass door.... so I thought I'd just get two cheapo front speakers..... silly me! |
