I have a top tip for vid owners who don't want to buy a DVD player:

Get your vid playing, block two thirds of the TV screen off top and bottom with black paper, make sure the sound is still only barely audible at fnear full on, make the menus take you right back to the beginning of the footage whatever you select, when there are scenes of no dialogue and just background music wind the volume up to 11 and blow out the windows then when normal dialogue returns turn sound down to zero.
There you are! The cheap way to own a DVD player!!
