I have opened this thread for next season. To start with, I am sure it would be appreciated if any information for the next season can be appended here.

It has already been posted in the current season thread that Alistair Brownlee switches from Century to BBC Tees to commentate on Middlesbrough matches. I presume that Bernie Slaven will remain as reporter for Century.

David Begg was interviewed in the Daily Record a few months back and he said he may retire from Radio Scotland at the end of this season.

So, due to Paul Mitchell's TV commitments, I'd imagine John Barnes is in pole position to take over, for two reasons:

1) He got the UEFA Cup Final
2) He no longer commentates on Scottish Cup highlights for Sportscene

Of course, the legend that is Mr Begg may decide to stay on and this is academic (for the time being, at least!).

talkSPORT have said that they are definitely bidding for a share of the rights to the FA Cup and England home internationals when the Football Association tender the rights next month. If they're successful, then I believe the contract starts from next season as the last contract ran from 2005-2008. If anyone knows more or can correct me, then thanks!

RTE Radio One Extra? This is a new one on me. I know that RTE Radio One medium wave is broadcasting rugby tonight. Has it been rebranded? (Good match so far, incidentally.)

They stopped broadcasting on all Medium Wave frequencies on 24th March. The odd AM programme is now on Radio One Extra (a kind of 5 Live Sports Extra type thing) which broadcasts online, 252LW and presumably DAB as well.

Also, one punditry change for you. Stan Collymore is off to talkSPORT, after being on BBC Radio 5 Live for a few years. Shame that is. I think he's good.

That's the MediaGuardian article on it....

Also, best of luck to Alistair Hignell who did his last Rugby Union commentary for 5 Live yesterday, at the Guiness Premiership Final at Twickenham.

Football includes Association Football (or soccer), Rugby Union Football, Rugby League Football to name but three types.

The Stan Colleymore defection rather surprised me.

Fully agree about AH. A good article in today's Sunday Times.

That is a good article on Alistair.

A look ahead to tonight's England game - 5 Live Sport have jut had Alan Green and Chris Waddle on the programme, so no prizes for guessing the commentary team then? It'll more than likely be Ingham, Green and Waddle. Graham Taylor was at that Grass Roots event yesterday, so I'm thinking that he won't be in Trinidad - unless I am mistaken, of course!

It's John Murray with Alan Green on 5 Live tonight. First time since I started listening to the station that an England match will be broadcast without Mike Ingham.

Yeah, I heard on '606: Off the Hook with Mark Chapman' that it was Jon Murray and Alan Green, but I wasn't around the computer at that point to alter my post. Thank goodness it's not John Motson doing the TV commentary. Also, is it just me, or is it quite nice to have football live at this time of night? I guess that it'll be similar to this when the 2014 FIFA World Cup goes to Brazil!
