I get that but why would they even take 5Live's report from there, it's not relevant to that area!

They probably took it just to waste a few minutes. If there's no Rugby match on, then there is less need to fill gaps with endless player Interviews. I'm sure most local BBC stations do so as well.

Darren Fletcher was due to be at Spurs but was apparently attacked whilst out walking his dog!”

By the sound of it, DF was involved in an incident involving the dog of another dog walker.

Alistair Yeomans covering Sheffield United v Doncaster and Roddy Forsyth (I assume back from ski-ing) is covering the Scottish League Cup Semi-Final between Rangers and Falkirk at Hampden Park for Five Live.

Crikey, Saggers on Radio 5 last night and tonight has been virtually unlistenable - he's popping so badly (banging his 'p' sounds into the mic) it's slightly painful.

Surely this is basic mic technique? Why is no-one having a word?

I guess, as host, he wears a headset rather than use a lip mic? The producer should tell him if it sounded bad. The whole show went off air for a while with some bloke being interviewed by 3 different people

That's excellent SunnySouthCoast. Thanks and welcome. The south coast is one of our missing areas as far as this forum is concerned (up until now, that is).

Arlo White will be commentating (with Greg Brady) on Sunday's Superbowl XLIII.

Has anybody got last night's Radio Five commentary list? I was out.

Arlo White has left his staff position in the BBC to go freelance - he's got stuff lined up with the Beeb like the Superbowl, cricket etc.

Great bloke, by the way. We used to play school football against each other when we were 10/11. And he supports a great team...

As for Darren Fletcher - it was mentioned on here the other day that he withdrew from doing a game on 5 Live after an incident involving a dog. Basically his dog was set upon by two pitbulls (or something similar) while the owner just stood and watched (ffs!) and Fletch was injured stopping his dog from being ripped to shreds.

His dog is in an improving state and Fletch was properly shaken by the attack. He was back on air on Wednesday night for 5 Live.

They do have commentary on the Accrington v Morecambe derby but only because both clubs waived their fee.

Possibly a sign of things to come this, certainly with clubs outside the premier league. In the Premier League stations do deals with the clubs they intend to follow, whereas in the Football Leagues the clubs have to pay the home team to offer away commentaries on a match by match basis which puts up costs.”

I presume 2BR had Burnley commentary... that must have dented the Radio Lancs audience... does anyone know if Central FM (the new Preston station) are covering North End in any way?
