That's shocking that Five Live couldn't muster another reporter so as to give have both games covered in full.

Odd. The TV equivalent thread claims that Will Cope was at Middlesbrough for Sky.

Yeah 2BR follow Burnley home & away. I didn't even know Central Radio had launched. With it being UTV I doubt they cover the football. They dumped all local football including (pretty much exclusive) commentary on Bolton and Wigan in those areas to fund the national commentary on Talksport.

Great bloke, by the way. We used to play school football against each other when we were 10/11. And he supports a great team...

As for Darren Fletcher - it was mentioned on here the other day that he withdrew from doing a game on 5 Live after an incident involving a dog. Basically his dog was set upon by two pitbulls (or something similar) while the owner just stood and watched (ffs!) and Fletch was injured stopping his dog from being ripped to shreds.

His dog is in an improving state and Fletch was properly shaken by the attack. He was back on air on Wednesday night for 5 Live.”

I can back up your comment about Arlo who I've met in a broadcasting capacity. The Superbowl and a test match in the space of four days is a pretty unique broadcasting assignment coming up.

Mick Lowes back on Radio Newcastle today for the Derby alongside John Anderson on AM. Nick Barnes and Gary Bennett on FM.

On another topic do BBC WM have commentary rights for Aston Villa this season. I notice from Ian's recent postings that they haven't done commentary on Villa games even when there's was the most attractive game

e.g they covered Birmingham in a championship game at Blackpool rather than Villa in the FA Cup at Doncaster.

I don't know what normally happens in the West Midlands and we don't seem to have any forum members who are able to report on BBC WM, BRMB and Beacon. I know that Jack Woodward commentates on Villa matches for the club. I seem to remember that Beacon cover (or covered) Wolves and West Brom. I do know that BBC WM had commentary on Arsenal v Villa on Saurday 15 November.

I'm not sure who did Inverness v Celtic for Radio Scotland this afternoon, but if I had to guess I'd say Scott Davie, John Robertson and Murdo MacLeod with the commentary and Chick Young pitchside.

I know theres another thread on it but very sad to hear about the death of Phil Easton and I thought I'd comment on it here.

Phil was synonymous to me anyway for being Radio City's Saturday Sports presenter during most of the 90s leading into commentaries on Liverpool & Everton from in those days Graham Beecroft (now Talksport) & Kevin Keatings (now Sky Sports). Chris Milow eventually took over presenting the sports show but Phil eventually became part of the Radio City pre match tannoy announcing team at Anfield to which he did his last game against Chelsea on Sunday.

Even up to his shock death he was still very much part of "City Sport" hosting post match phone ins (usually on Saturdays after the 3pm matches). He was also reporting from the touchline during City's Commentary on Liverpool's amazing "miracle of Istanbul" and the 2007 Champions League Final in Athens.

Phil had been with Radio City for 30 years presenting various shows and had been breakfast show host of first Magic 1548 then City Talk which launched last year. He was actually on air only yesterday morning before dying of an heart attack in the afternoon.

A shocking and sad loss. RIP Phil.

Hi Ian

Basically Beacon / Gold 990 use Bill Hatton & Robbie Dennison for Wolves games and Nathan Allayne with Tony "Bomber" Brown covering the Baggies. Home matches on AM, away matches on FM when they are the same kick off times. When they are seperate kick off times both teams will be on FM

I don't know what BRMB do as i'm out in the sticks and it gets drowned out by one of the south west stations
