The other game which hadn't started at the time of my last message yesterday was:

Blackburn Rovers v Wigan Athletic - Graham Beecroft”

That's why I always wait until they've all been revealed before putting up the reporters list for talkSPORT.

Don't think BRMB had a reporter at Palace in the end, although I listened to mostly WM, who only called upon Sohail Sahi twice (prior to kick-off and at half-time). And Rob Gurney at Wolves got more airtime during the presentation at Molineaux than he was during the game!

Listened to a little bit of Five Live and Sports Extra, here's what they did:

Five Live Sports Extra

Mark Clemmitt presenting from the Madejski Stadium.

Reading v Birmingham City - Mike Sewell & Steve Froggatt
Crystal Palace v Sheffield United - Nigel Adderley

Not sure which other reporters they took, but I presume the rest would have been the same as those used on Five Live.

Five Live

Arlo White presenting from the Madejski Stadium with John Murray.

Liverpool v Newcastle United - Alan Green, Mike Ingham & Jimmy Armfield

Burnley v Bristol City - Peter Slater
Charlton Athletic v Norwich City - Alistair Bruce-Ball
Crystal Palace v Sheffield United - Simon Brotherton
Plymouth v Barnsley - David Oates
Preston v QPR - Conor McNamara
Reading v Birmingham City - John Murray
Sheffield Wednesday v Cardiff City - Ian Brown

I only listened in patches, but Five Live had a shocker. Despite it being effectively game over at half-time, they stuck with the game at Anfield well into the second half and only swapped to commentary from the Madejski in second half stoppages.

When compared with what talkSPORT, Five Live Sports Extra and what local radio around the UK was doing, Five Live scored a massive own goal in my opinion.

Also, whoever was co-commentator for BBC 3CR said of Mitchell Cole after the sending off was that "he would need to take a long hard look at himself whilst in the showers" ”

Just back from my annual break in Ireland (taking in the Punchestown National Hunt Festival) so have missed much of the UK coverage recently.

James Philips will have been the Barrow commentator for BBC Radio Cumbria. Steve Watkins will have covered Stevenage for BBC 3CR. Chris Parsons may have been the summariser for BBC Devon (as he has covered Plymouth for the station).
