Toshiba TV problem

Hi

Our Toshiba TV has for the last four or five months been showing a blue box with EXT2 in it on the screen permanently. The only time it disappears is when we activate another feature htat has a screen display, like increasing or decreasing the volume, but as soon as we stop this feature, it comes back. This is a 24" 'old style' (3 year old) model - 24Z33B.

There is also a small green rectangle which is permanently displayed just belowed the EXT box

Any ideas gratefully received - we are not really in a position to buy another telly at the moment but this is getting quite distracting.

You've turned the on-screen display permanently ON, you need to turn if OFF again - on a Sony it's the button labelled 'i+' - your instruction book should tell you which button it is.

Thanks for your advice Nigel - I have been through the manual looking for any mention of an on-screen display button, but couldn't find anything and our remote hasn't got any buttons unaccounted for in the manual. I will keep trying all combinations.

I've just checked on Toshiba, and it's because the set is in service mode - hopefully this may help?

“
Model(s)
24Z33B, 24Z37B
Symptom
Channel ident (number) and small green dot under ident, cannot be removed.
Cause
Set has been left in Service Mode and needs to Initialized.
Cure
To Exit from the Service Mode use item 2 in the table below VOL (-) or down button on the front of the set until it reaches minimum and then press key 1 on the remote control holding both keys for two seconds, the set will revert to standby and then switch on again and display the welcome screen.

Nigel - thank you, thank you - this has solved it! I haven't been on line for a few days - broadband been off locally - but saw this this afternoon, tried it immediately and it worked first time. I am so grateful for the time you took to find this solution, I really appreciate it - it is such a relief that we don't need a new set! Thank you again from me, and from all of the family
