The Ad - make a series???

Did anyone notice that when SAS was discussing the merits or not of the two ads, one of the remarks made by the agency was that "It could be turned into a series". I can't for one minute believe that Alex's ad could have been the subject of the remark, but it could have applied to Raef's.

Anyone notice and/or agree?

I got the impression that they hated the Raef advert. The Alex one was so in your face and tacky that they were bound to love it despite the appalling pitch from Lee.

Why didn't they just show a big pic of the tissue box, with a crazed voice shouting the name of the product continually? That seems to be their idea of the perfect advert.

The 'winning' advert was so tacky, it made me think the product was tacky--so I would have gone out of my way to avoid it. Am I the only person to feel like this?

Not at all. I think Raef was right when he said it was utterly patronising. Clearly people have a very shallow idea of what the target demographic is like. I for one wouldn't have gone near the product if I saw the winning advert. It was dire - truly dire.

Well after watching the show I think Cadburys must now realise what a huge mistake they have made with their ad campaign. I mean what has a gorilla playing drums or airport transport vehicles racing got to do with Milk Chocolate. Can I suggest they get straight on to Alex to direct their next campaign. Perhaps thats the plan for when Alex gets the job as the apprentice - Amstrad Agency

I actually watched those adverts just to see what on earth they were supposed to be advertising. Methinks SAS wanted Raef gone and the ad. was his opportunity.

In fairness the guy from an ad agency on You're Fired did point out that only established brands can adopt this technique.

I noticed a box of Atishoo tissues in last night's episode of Peep Show - the box was the same colour orange and as soon as I saw them I thought, product placement. Where can you buy them? They are anti bacterial you know.

the atishu campaign was too american and cheesey for my likeing. Raef's team would have won easily if their picture of the box of 'i love my tissues' had been shown centre screen at the end over the picture, with some sort of small print at the bottom about how it's anti-bacterial.
