Extending lenght of satellite coax cable?
I have a satellite point in our bedroom with a freesat box hooked into it. I want to buy a new tv and move it within the bedroom. That would mean that the current lenght of cable wouldn't reach to the new location of the tv.
I also have a loop running from the main Sky boxx downstairs. What I want to know is it possible to extend the length of the cable easily with connectors or would I have to replace the current cable from the LNB with a longer length of cable? Any help appreciated. |

no problem extending the cable at all. just get some good quality satellite cable (i cant remember the name of it now) and a couple of F connecters from a DIY place, or somewhere like maplins.

I take it that it's as simple as wiring up the F connectors to the new piece of cable and then connecting one end to the freesat box and the other end to the cable running from the LNB?

the F connectors just twist on. you should get a pack with 2 connectors on - and a little "coupler" to enable you to connect the new wire to the exsisting one coming from lnb |

you may lose around 10% of your signal strength as soon as you attach that extension, give the signal readings on your sky box a check before and after.
I've tried this before and lost signal strength straight away,i was using top quality coaxial cable for the whole run,if you've got a really strong signal to start with it shouldn't matter,if it's not all that great a 10% drop may show up on your picture quality. |
