Getting TV to default to AV! and not NICAM
goggled
25-05-2008
I only have FSFS so to give best viewing recording options have set up
Code:
SCART connections

Digi box TV out Digi box VCR out
to to
DVDR AV2 VCR AV2
DVDR AV1 VCR AV1
to to
TV AV1 TV AV2

RF loop through
Rx> DVDR>VCR>TV
When I, using the Sky romote, tirn on the TV and select Sky, I have to use the TV's remote to select AV1 to watch the Sky output. Is there a way to do things so that I need not involve the TVs remote, but only need use it, when I need to record to or watch from VCR?

If you just connect the VCR to the digibox VCR scart there's no need to connect it to the TV.

If the VCR is switched on then that will come through the digibox otherwise you will be seeing the digibox. This setup does mean you won't be able to watch the VCR whilst recording from Sky on the DVDR but apart from that it's much more convenient.

is scart control switched ON in sky box ?

the telly should remeber the last channel you watched ?

what I do is with sky remote is press the Sky button and then quickly switch on and off the box, this switches it to AV 1

is the sky remote programmed for AV 1 ?

Telly always comes on with the last analogue channel selected, even if the last watched live program was digital.

Procedure used to be
Switch on TV with Sky remote. If Sky box on. with sky remote switch off then on. If in standby just switch on. it is only recently I have had problems. My set up worked OK for a while.

Yes, the DVDR will display whatever you select.

Since it used to work something has obviously happened to stop it. Have you tried making sure all the SCARTS are securely plugged in?

I was convinced that the SCARTs were firmly in, but following bobcar's comment looked again. First by slightly pulling out and then pushing again.....no change. I was not until I completely removed them one at a time and replaced it that it proved to be one of the two connection the DVDR to the TV and Sky box.

I feel an absolute twit , but have come to the conclusion that SCART connection system is not the most secure. Do locking ones really deal with that aspect? I'd hate to waste money If they don't and some seem very expensive.

Now having solved that one, is there away reprogram the Sky remote to get the TV to go straight to Sky output if the skybox is ON rather than having to turn Sky OFF then ON again?
