'Apprentice' star caught up in cheating row - [Spoilers]

“Apprentice star Claire Young was accused of cheating by a rival contestant on the programme.

The retail buyer faced claims that she had broken the show's rules when the final six candidates filmed a "supercars" task, which saw Sir Alan Sugar's potential apprentices renting out expensive vehicles to members of the public.

The cheating row centred around claims that Young had telephoned friends off-camera to drum up business for her team. Such a move would have counted as a breach of Sugar's rules, which state that all phone calls must be made while the cameras roll.

A show insider told The People: "The other contestant claims Claire made a couple of cheeky phone calls to mates. The others went up the wall.

"Claire pleaded her innocence to show bosses saying some of her jealous rivals had got the wrong end of the stick. In the end they believed her and no action was taken."

The car task can be seen in the next episode of the BBC One reality show, which airs on Tuesday night at 9.00pm.”

What do you make of this?

Well, it guarantees us that Claire won't get fired this week

It's not a guarantee. She's not protected by the invisible shield of Siralan's love. She's not Michael.

That doesn't surprise me

Love that phrase

I think they should introduce it like playing a joker to protect a candidate from firing. "Though Jenny bit a child's face and drooled on the table in front of the Harrods board, this week she is protected by the invisible shield of Siralan's love so won't be going in the boardroom"

it does seem likely though that her team will win the task, as then the other team might say they shouldn't have won as claire actually cheated. seems more likely than them bringing it up when they themsleves won the task. i dont know though...
judging by the previews, it doesnt look like lucinda, alex and lee are going to do well in the this task.

Sounds a Claire type of move

you got to hand it to the gal she is competitive and wants to win even if she has to cheat to win

Alternatively, Claire's team lost the task. She made the most sales and another member of her team accused her of cheating to avoide being fired.

This does sound like a Claire move to me, but I'm sure if there was significant evidence then she would have been fired.

It says on the article that the next episode of the apprentice is Tues at 9:00pm, is it not normally on a Wednesday?
Have they changed it this week, or is this an error?

Changed to Tuesday for some football match.

The favoured get away with it while others only have to fail one to get fired.

I have lost interest who wins this series as its turned into a bit of a joke

That virtually guarantees that they will win at the last minute then.

I hope so.

I've always wondered about this point.

It's obvious that a rule like this would exist, however it wouldn't be easy to enforce.

How can they prevent the contestants from going onto their phone. They can't follow them around all day to make sure they don't send any texts/make any calls.

If Claire did do this then I'm sure she's not the first to have tried it.
