The reaction on the forums to what is happening on the show.........Does ALW and Cameron have their fingers on the pulse of the nation or not.

Do the public want a redefined younger Nancy?

Are we being forced to accept their choice ?

Its not up to them though - they have to go with our choice!

There does seem to be a discrepancy between my view of Nancy and theirs - but that seems to be largely because they want a younger girl and i'd prefer someone older.

I want someone who can hold the role not just be used as foil to the other "stars" of the show.

They certainly didn't go with thepublic vote tonight.

It's their own fault. There have been so many naff reasons for getting rid of Nancy's that the public haven't really known what to be looking for. So, now they're stuck with the prospect of a Nancy they don't want.

I doubt Rachel would have won anyway, though I think she's great. I'm quite convinced Jodie will win.

Probably not as it's been very clear that they have been trying to winkle Jodie out for weeks.

Yes ALW is most certainly out of touch with public opinion given he failed to send Sam packing despite her receiving the fewest votes.

Denise is cluless too. She was adament that Sam would appeal to both male and female viewers.

That was a bloody good moment tonight, seeing those two go through after the Judges' comments!

I know! I absolutely loved it. I'm not strongly supporting anybody this time- got good and bad things to say about all those who are left- but it would be good to see that their manipulations don't always work.

It's hard to know what public opinion is really as we only ever get to know who are the bottom two in any given week. They're way out as far as my opinion is concerned though!

I thought the 'dilemma' about what 'kind' of Nancy is chosen (e.g. young and raw vs older and more worldly wise) was supposed to be a dilemma for the public, but I think ALW and CM have already decided that the kind of Nancy they want is a young one. In which case I think they should have given us this job spec at the beginning of the series, before the auditions even, so that only contenders they deemed appropriate were in the running.

I think they blatantly don't want Jodie in the role. If she doesn't have enough 'grit' for CM then he can comfort himself with the knowledge that they have 6 months to teach 'grit' if she wins, just as they'd have 6 months to iron out the other contenders' imperfections.

I know the decision from now on is entirely up to the public vote, and I can't imagine they would do anything underhand with the phone competition after all the bad press such phone-ins have had in the past year, but I can't quite get the image out of my head that all of ALW's and CM's friends will be voting repeatedly for Samantha next weekend in order to out-vote Jodie.

Think I might have gone a bit off topic here!

I think they are way out.
No substance to Sam can't see what she'd bring to the role at all.
Can see a spark to Jessie though.

It was the dawning expressions of "oh ****!" as AWL and CM realised that we hadn't listened to their words of wisdom!

My schadenfreude was immense!

I think CM and ALW came into this hoping to find a Nancy that didn't conform to the perceived MT stereotype. They found several that they would have been happy with and have hoped to convince the public along the way. In fact they are still hoping. Unfortunately for them, it seems that a large section of the voting public are traditionalists at heart and Jodie's traditional looking Nancy, together with some consistent performances, have won them over.

They may still get their "different" Nancy if Jessie wins the role although I feel that if she does, they'll all have their work cut out.

I'm not saying Sam won't win this now, but 4th to 1st in one week is quite a jump, particularly as I'd have thought that she'd be the one to benefit most from Niamh's votes after her departure.

ALW & CM are obviously not familiar with the term "gritty northerners".

I know that Sam would have gone out tonight if it was based on the public vote alone. However, Rachel has been in the bottom 2 many times, and I believe that this is the first time for Sam. ALW may have factored in the amount of times that Rachel's been in the bottom 2 when deciding to boot her off.
