Question about the Sony VTX D800U Remote.
Recently my remote on Sony VTX D800U has started being very unresponsive, and sometimes only works if I press it really hard. Now the thing I want ask is should I just replace the remote with this remote, or just buy a new freeview box.

If your original remote only works if you press really hard that simply means the control membrane/circuit board under the buttons is needing cleaned due to sweat from your fingers and other debris that finds it way in through the buttons...this happens to all remote controls over time. If you can dismantle it...sometimes a couple of tiny screws need to be removed and the two halves levered apart...just get a flat-bladed screwdriver and start by levering them apart along one side starting at the bottom end...just separate the rubber membrane from the circuit board...you'll see it has a wet sticky goo and give it a good clean with a cloth and some Isopropyl Alcohol...even a wash in warm soapy water and a good dry with a hairdryer should cure it. You can certainly bin the Sony and buy a new Freeview box but it probably won't be as good as the Sony (unless you get a Humax or similar)...if you follow my instructions it won't cost you a penny...other than the Isopropyl Alcohol which you can probably get from Maplin. |

These "classic" remotes are well built. |

It's a "Pattern" remote...meaning it isn't the original Sony-supplied one but is made as a cheaper replacement and has all the same buttons as the original...they are well made and you won't go wrong.

"Pattern" remotes have every button the original has...just a different colour/shape and placement...but the operation is identical.

Remote Gate has come to an end.
After asking in a local tv, they managed to find me one. |
