Daniel Pirie

I'm so shocked he didn't get through. I thought his audition was just amazing. I couldn't take my eyes off him whilst he was performing. It annoys me how these "talent shows" preach about looking for fresh talent yet they seem to dismiss the best of it. I dunno why anybody would wanna watch a weighty woman "dancing" around to Britney Spears or a man who can barely play the keyboard on the Royal Variety Performance over a very very talented young boy who has the potential to be something amazing! In Amanda's words "the next Billy Elliot". It's sad to think that it's okay to just throw talent down the drain like that ... they're pretty much ignoring it.

I realise that alot of talented acts did get through ... Faryl for example, and Charlie Green ... but I saw something very special in Daniel. He was captivating to watch and I just think it's a huge shame that we wont be seeing more of his beautiful talent over the coming weeks.

I wish him all the luck in the world!

Yes, I agree. But then I suppose they let some of the dross through to give the others an easy ride. I mean, is he really much different from George?

He was good and he came across as a nice lad as well, hopefully he'll be back.

Oh yes, I think he was completely different to George. He had a completely different style for starters.

It all comes down to entertainment value at the end of the day. They aren't JUST a talent show are they? They're a talent show, which is on TV. They have to cause some controversy otherwise people wouldn't tune in and they wouldn't reap the benefits. I just don't see the point in putting talentless people through who really shouldn't have even passed the auditions if we're being honest. I'd much rather watch 40 odd amazingly talented people than a bunch of great people and a bunch of rubbish people.

I'm sure he'll go on to bigger and better things. I just fear that I'll never be able to see him perform again

Yes, but how many people have said that AndyJ and that other 12 yr old whose name momentarily escaped me are "opera singers". Yes, Paul Potts WAS an opera singer, if that term is applied loosely since he hadn't sung for years before BGT, and really was a one-trick pony - but I don't think many cathedral choristers sing opera, and certainly the Bach/Gounod Ave Maria isn't opera (though Gounod did write opera) and neither is the Pie Jesu AJ sang.

Personally I think it cruel that the joke acts get through. They will only be there to make the good acts look even better and to produce a few cheap laughs. I would suspect the likely winners will be spread out over all the semi-finals to ensure that most are in the final.

Maybe we should all campaign for one of them to win - let us see Amanda and Piers explain that to HRH!

Ballet is not my thing but I was impressed with Daniel's skill. Perhaps he will do a George Sampson and try again next year.

Yeah, I do understand what you mean.

I suppose I just prefered Daniel's style to the likes of George and various other dance acts who are through. It wasn't even so much that he didn't get through, it was more to do with the fact that a whole bunch of talentless people did over him. That's what has made me really angry. And he was so upset aswell!

I hope little Charlie Green wins now. He's the only other person I've seen something special in so far.

Yes, he's really talented isn't he? But he's 10, and he didn't really sing anything especially high.

Oh yeah, he was fantastic. He sang one of my favourite songs aswell. Love his voice! With age he's going to be fantastic. Great little performer too!

I've just noticed you're from Nottingham. Great accent (Y), I just love it! I'm planning on taking a trip there this summer with my boyfriend. Any tips on what to see and do?

Yes, take a bullet proof vest and chav detector! No, seriously, there's plenty to do. The castle and lace market are pretty much must-sees regarding sights, plenty of shops etc. Hard for me to think because I regard a lot of it as the norm, as I live here! For instance, can't think last time I went to the castle. There's a tourist info place thingy on the square so you can always have a look and see if theres anything that looks interesting. When I go to a new city I just get a map and walk around see what looks good.

Charlie is great - wonder how good he'll be in about 3 years time just before his voice breaks. He's actually 11 now. (16/2/97 according to this http://www.charliegreenmusic.com/ )

Okay, thanks =)

I'm SO glad I don't have to hear that rubbish keyboard player again, haha! Wasted place in the semi finals? I think so...

Hope Charlie gets through *fingers crossed*
