This is probably really simple, but I've checked all the options and checked them again, and can't see it!

How do I make Facebook ask my permission to tag my in pictures? So I have to confirm them first?

A couple of my friends find it amusing to upload pictures of gay porn and tag each other in them, including me! And since my bosses and all my work colleagues are facebook friends, not a good move!

Hahahahaa Facebook should never be mixed work stuff tbh unless you create two different accounts.

When I was a myspace user it would always email me and ask me to confirm

I know I've just logged in tonight and seen I've been tagged in about 10 pictures of really explicit gay porn We're talking stuff dripping off chins and full erections etc.!

But surely if the pictures aren't actually you your boss would see the joke.

And by the way you can detag photos.

You can set Facebook so that only you can see pictures tagged of you. That means if anyone goes into your profile and looks at your pictures, they won't see any tagged ones.

I had to do that because my MUM added me and the stuff I get up to is not for her eyes

Of course, this doesn't stop them from going into the person's account who tagged you.

Yup was about to type that..

Just go to Privacy > Profile then in "Photos tagged of you" click on the drop down box and Customise.

You can then enter in names to exclude from seeing photos tagged of you.

I know I can de-tag them, but I only check it in the evenings, like today I was tagged in these porn pics and it was on my profile for about 16 hours, and obv went out on my mini-feed to everyone in my friend list! Plenty of time for people to see them, so untagging is ok if i'm on it all day, but generally I'm not.

I guess my bosses would see its a joke, but it doesn't look very good does it? Plus we work with other companies etc to and people I do free-lance work for.

I guess I'll have to have a serious talk with my friends and tell them it actually does bother me properly, or delete them from my friends if they keep doing it.

I just assumed Facebook would have something so simple? They're usually pretty good about privacy etc, and myspace has had it for years.

On a related note...

It used to be that if you posted pictures, then someone else tagged a person in those pictures, you'd be asked to confirm the photo tag before it was made public. But now, you just get a notification. So, any of your friends can tag anything in your photos and you don't get to approve it first. I'm really unhappy about that as the old system seemed to work fine.

Yeah I was sure I used to be able to! Thought I was going mad. Seems odd to change it, esp when Facebook are always going on about how up on privacy they are these days etc, seems a step backwards?

I use the option where tagged photos of me don't go on my profile. I swiftly untag myself from photos.

My friend complained that her friends can't see the photos I had tagged of her on her profile, and asked me to change my settings so that they could see them.

I had a look at my privacy settings where everything is set to friends only, but I didn't think that applied to tagged photos, so that the tagged recipient was able to see themselves. I'm sure she is the one who needs to change her settings on the privacy setting of photos tagged of me, and its nothing to do with me.

Does that makes sense?

This is what really annoys me!

I'm not on FaceBook, but my wife is (although she rarely uses it), and one of her friends is a facebook-addict. We were round there house about 4 or 5 weeks ago, and during the 30 odd hours we were there (stayed over!) she "just popped on to facebook, to see who's doing what" 3 or 4 times ... but anyway, that's not the basis of my rant ... she has no problem in putting up pictures of other people.

Fair enough, you may say, if they are of her AND other people (she then does the obligatory tagging), but there are dozens of pictures of
a) people who don't even have facebook (incl me)
b) pictures that don't include her (incl some of my and my wife's wedding!! and even picture's of another friend's baby) without asking the other people's permission
c) pics that people perhaps wouldn't want to be shown (ie not looking their best, nothing XXX rated!!!)

Some people live their life through FaceBook, and that's fine, as long as they don't piss other people off by assuming that everyone else wants to keep an online (b)log of their lives with photos added every other day! Grrrr!!!

But, thanks to this thread, I will tell my wife that she can change the tagging settings so that she can control who sees the tags.
