Hello there everyone,

I'm about to become the umpteenth poster to ask advice on what TV I should go for.

I have a 32" Humax LCD which I won a few years back and I fancy a bigger one for a 17 ft x 12ft lounge where I sit approx 7-8 foot from the set.

Would around a 40-42 inch set be best for me? If so, what HD-TV would you reccomend? I would like 1080p if possible as I plan to buy a Blu-ray in the future.

A sales asst. in Curry's said the Panasonic Viera's are the best TV on the market but at £1100+ for a 42 inch 1080p I'm not sure I fancy spending that much.

Thanks a lot folks.

Panasonic are good, but they aren't the best out there. Look at Samsung's, Sony's and Sharp's as well. Just as an example, you can get a 40 inch Samsung 5 series 1080p TV for around £900.

We purchased the Sony KDL40V3000. Works out around around £700ish (inc delivery). It has plenty to offer...

HD1080P (1920 x 1080)
Integrated digital tuner (freeveiw)
3 x HDMI - 2 rear 1 x side
S force front surround - digital Dolby
Live colour creation
BRAVIA engine
Dynamic contrast up to 16000:1
24p true cinema
BRAVIA theatre Sync
2 x scart
1 x component input
PC input

I'm very happy with the purchase

Just had a look, but they don't seem to be offering it anymore But you could mail them and/or find another store with a similar price.

The 3000 range has been replaced by the 4000 range, take a look at the Sony website. The W4000 may be best or may be out of your price range.....take a look...
