Hi. My Philips DVD player has started to play up. It smells a bit of something burning and the sound is all over the place. It also emits loud clicking noises all the time.

Obviously I have unplugged it and taken it away from the tv and SKy+ box etc so what do I do with it now?

I called Philips and they want £206 all in to pick it up, repair it and return it. Too much for me so.......

Who shall I look for for help fixing it, I take it it is some kind of circuit board that needs replacing but I am unsure about how to go about it.

It is part of the Home Cinema Surround sytem, model number LX 3950W.

I don't want to bin it as it is a great system and sounds awsome!!

Any ideas/help will be appreciated.

Have you got any independent retailers nearby who have their own workshops?

Go look in Yellow Pages either in Book form or via online and you should be able to find a service engineer or repair shop.

Just been out and bought a new Samsung dvd/surround bit of kit so the Philips LX 3950W is up for sale if anyone wants it for spares or repair or something.
