I'd never heard of this woman before but immediately thought something was very wrong the moment she came back at Alex with the "I was managing director at age 23". For a start, it's a pretty ignorant comment in many regards. The fact that she was a managing director at 23 (With no formal further education or relevant industry experience) is clearly a very unique situation. Was she implying that Alex could have done as much at his age? If she really believes this is something most people can achieve then she is deluded and if she correctly thinks it's a very difficult thing to do then there's no point having a go at Alex for not doing the same.
As the interview went on I couldn't believe my ears. Her comments about his looks and how he was shy about them (He was feigning being coy and she fell for it hook, line and sinker) were completly irrelevant and she came across to me as not performing her role well at all (In the show, not in real life). After reading up on her (As I say, I'd never heard of her) it appears she left school at 18, had no further education and worked at a radio station. A little while after that she started working at Saatchi & Saatchi where (Reading between the lines) she made a lot of commision due to some guy having a crush on her and buying whatever she put in front of him. This doesn't make her good at her job, this just makes the guy a bit sad. Then she convinces this infatuated bloke to buy her a football club and the rest if history. Some of the people here seem to admire her so she must have done something right but I think it's very disingenuous of her to give the impression she got where she is on merit. |

Absolutely right Circus Frown, Brady is the most undeserved of the title of businesswoman, she is just some porn-king's sidekick and she has barely any intellect and her interview style was superficial and irrelevant. Her attempts to project herself as some sort of advert for hard work and merit is contemptible and fraudulent.

Paul said the same thing, in response to Alex defending his CV as he was only 24. Paul responded that he was managing his own company at 24!Wth reference to the rest of your post Karren's recent business achievements are well doccumented and speak for themselves. She is widely respected in the business and footballing world and is hugely popular with corporate bigwigs as an after dinner/ motivational speaker. I hardly think that SAS would invite her to interview by virtue of her casting couch credentials. PS) Wikepedia whilst convenient isn't always a very reliable source nor accurate source. This might give you a little more info regarding her sucesss and achievements. http://www.normanphillips.co.uk/karren_brady_bio.htm http://www.nyt.co.uk/karren-brady.htm http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2006.../comment.radio |

I'm delighted at Karen's inclusion. Not just because I am a bluenose...
![]() Actually, I'm impressed with KB. When she joined B'ham City at 23 she seemed to have no redeeming features at all. Didn't really see her again until Celebrity Apprentrice and was pleasantly surprised at the way she'd come on. Dave

I'm sad to say that her attitude showed palpably that she was going to be complimentary of anyone with a vagina, whether it be justified or not.

I liked the way Sir Alan slapped her down in the boardroom when she tried to use the Helene sob story.
I should think he's more interested in what Helene can do now, not what her childhood was like, and that's what that football woman should have focussed on. |

One of the other interviewers also said to Alex that he was running his own company at 22 - surely the same applies to him then? |

I have a lot of admiration for Karren Brady - she's still the only female MD of a football club in the country and has been for a number of years. I hardly think she would still be in that position if she wasn't any good
think her comments about Alex's looks were inappropriate and irrelevant though |

One of the players got on the wrong side of her by making a sexist remark to her and she put him on the transfer list and got transferred to Crewe Alexandra.
Now there's a good policy...

What about that fool of an interviewer, who said absolutely nothing about Lucinda's abilities and instead yapped a load of personal, pointless tosh. He apparently didn't focus on anything relevant. |

Now there's a good policy... The player should have sued the arse off her. |

Its not a good policy. Its abuse of power based on emotion.
The player should have sued the arse off her. Seriously though... methinks you took my flippant comment too seriously... |

The player should have sued the arse off her. Karren Brady has never asserted that his sexism was the sole reason for his departure. She tells the anecdote to emphasise that she as MD was in the position of power . |

 Probably tried and failed. Perhaps he should have had a little more respect and worried about his own arse rather than hers.

I recall that the player concerned was going to be transfered because he was no longer performing well enough for the club. The fact that he was transfered after making a sexist remark is simply an amusing bi product.

It was exceptionally funny. The player concerned was trying to undermine her during an important business meeting and made an innappropriately sexist remark about her legs. She simply reminded him that he would not be able to see them from Crewe where he was being transferred to.

I should think he's more interested in what Helene can do now, not what her childhood was like, and that's what that football woman should have focussed on. It was CLAUD who brought all that up, not Karren Brady. Karren simply stated that she thought Helene was determined to succeed because of her upbringing. Suralan didn't say a word to her about it - he ''slapped down'' both the blokes! ALL the interviewers discussed Helene's background. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfMMh...watch_response For Claud's little speech and Suralan's admonishment, forward to 2:30. |
