As I have already said and I repeat - if you can't see it, you will never see it so it is a closed book. It's for the millions, probably billions out there who appreciate it and can see it.

Not really, I liked him, big deal. I quite liked most of the contestants to be honest. Although I could do without the magic act last night. I applaud anyone who gets up and does their thing in front of an audience knowing they could be criticised for it and told they're crap. I applaud anyone who has a love and pursues that love. Good for them. I'm not really into posting scathing comments about people that I don't know on internet boards. It's a fun-filled variety show and I'm taking it as that.

Really, in the big scheme of things, who gives a shit who performs in front of Prince Charles, he'll probably fall asleep half way through the show anyway.

I like geroge sampson..but he watches lots of youtube videos of a certain dancer from the states ie.the same guy who did the singing in the rain advert.

Yee gods - the boy is 14 years old and loves to dance and is bloody good at it - how dare he!!

By the way - I love Kate and Gin and can see that Kate is very shy. It takes all sorts to make a world but this kid is being slagged off for being upbeat and NOT coming across cocky.

AS for people going on about the VW commercial - the difference is that he is untrained and has choreographed himself. I personally preferred his audition and hope that he goes back to pure dancing with no gimmicks for the final, but there is a lot of pressure on the contestants to up their game every time.

Nobody is completely original to start with. Signature neded Michael Jackson's dance moves to create their act, Michael Jackson used to watch Bob Fosse and Fred Astaire. There isn't an act on that stage (or any stage) that hasn't been influenced by watching somebody else.

George may be influenced by a certain dancer but that's how he's learning his craft. Nothing wrong with that IMO

That is completely unfair. I couldn't give a toss about his back story, I think he is an amazing dancer, obviously it is clear where his influences are from, but like someone else has said, every act is influenced by someone. I think his talent is what gives him the edge...his backstory isnt strong enough to cause the support hes got.

You may recognise a clip in that video that shows a bit of the short sequence of the clip that went viral on the internet and is one of the largest viewed clips on the internet.

In fact after watching the video in the link above, I think that is a clue to how Simon Cowell may be thinking.
He's going to be thinking about how he can promote George Sampson. So has to research into if there any other body poppers who have acheived any kind of level of fame.

Elsewhere, or David Bernal, is the most obvious answer. So therefore they have probably found the VW Gold commercial sequence in their research. So what better way to promote George by using the Singing in the Rain sequence as inspiration as it worked so well for David Bernal?
It's a very convenient parallel which can be used.

You can see the cogs ticking in Simon's head. At first you wonder how could Simon possibly make George Sampson into a star from Body popping. Then the answer is obvious....you think of David Bernal and you have the inspiration for George Sampson.

So if George wins this competition, don't be surprised if Simon manages to book George in for appearances in adverts just like David Bernal. Not to mention music videos.
I can even see Simon putting George into a Leona Lewis music video.

Don't be mistaken into thinking that I'm saying it's fixed for him to win the competition outright or anything like that. I assure you that I'm not. But I do believe that he's been deliberately set up as one of the main front runners and that there are financial options here which enable Simon Cowell to use George and promote him to a level of fame for the next year.
I'm just saying that there's options here for Simon and George should he win, and that Simon has very probably had some forethought about this should it happen.

I don't even dislike him, I'm just going by what I see.
I may even prefer his next performance if it focuses more on just him dancing, without all the going nuts waving his arms aimlessly about thing on a movie set.

I think he was okay in his performance before this one, but in last night's show it felt to me that either nerves got to him or he got a bit overexcited, and then just went into mad dancing and doing any old stuff he could come up with on the spot.
He was okay when he balanced in the air on the lamp post, but soon after that he seemed unfocused and just appeared to be doing any old stuff out of being over excited or too nervous.
It felt like he lost control of a routine he had planned to do.

Like I say, see how the next one goes. I don't even think I'd mind if he wins if he does better in the next show. There are certainly acts which I think are less deserving.
I think I'd prefer him over some shmaltzy child singer who we're all supposed to go "Aww" at, even though the Billy Elliot schtick puts me off quite a lot.

I wouldn't go that far since George is so average, more like a learner, compared to that guy!

I've watched quite a few of his videos and find his style a bit different to George's. He's into the melting body moves a lot more and less of the back flips and gymnastics from what I've seen. Was that him doing the gymnastics in the VW video? because I can't see him doing those moves anywhere else. George's style seems more hip hoppy to me

As far as the VW video goes, George used the idea but it was nowhere near an exact copy.

A very good friend of mine met George last year at the festival4stars comp which he won. She said he is a fantastic dancer but this whole face pulling can't believe it thing is sooo not him. She said he is cocky and very big headed and kept the whole comp waiting last year for 20 minutes as he was somewhere else at the time!

He does his moves in other things. He hasn't just appeared in that commerical. He's been all over. He's probably quite rich by now.

Yes that was one of the main things I mentioned in a couple of posts. He seemed to be trying to play the audience and overdoing it. The way he was acting when Ant and Dec were speaking to him and he was mopping his face with the towel, seemed to be so put on for effect. And then he said that it was the best performance he'd ever done in his life, and then feigning absolute shock at his own performance as though he'd just done the most brilliant thing in history ever. It came across as so unnatural and melodramatic.
He seemed to be putting it on for effect.

The way he was acting shocked and flabbergasted at his own performance came across as very disingenuous.
Not saying he's a bad lad, but I think it was at odds with the persona of him put across in his sob story VT. The two characters didn't quite match for me.

People are just being too cynical for the sake of it.

Hes a young lad, and the thing with him is the 'potential', hes just a complete natural. If what he says is true about him not having many dance lessons, just imagine what hed be like with proper dance training. Even the greatest dancers have had some sort of training or teachings. Granted there a better dancers out there but they probably started off on about Georges level.

So people trying to criticize him by using the argument that theirs better body poppers/dancers out there etc etc are being very short sighted imo.

I don't think him using rain as the concept for his dance is an issue becuase hes not a choreographer, hes a dancer so hes not trying to show the auidence what unique choreography he can come up with, although he seems to learn alot of his own moves and is probably capable in the future. Do people really expect that from a kid of his age? i dont, so give him a break.

I don't know how technically good George is, but I do know that I can't take my eyes off him when he's dancing. He's very charismatic and looks like he's having the time of his life when he's dancing. I don't think you need to be technically brilliant to be a great dancer, I know people who aren't but they're still fantastic to watch. You either have the rhythm in you or you haven't.

That's my point - I imagine they had a gymnast to do the tumbling part.

However, like you I would have preferred to see George just dancing as I want to see his moves. The rain obscured that , But I imagine the pressure to come up with something different and spectacular is huge.

With all due respect that is just hearsay and second hand at that. I daresay there are plenty of people who've met me who would say I was ______ (any number of adjectives you'd care to put in the space!!) Someone else who was at the same event might have found him charming. Some people mistake confidence for cockiness, others might see cockiness as confidence. Its all a matter of perception.

Well first of all it seemed obvious that a lot of his shock came from the reaction from the audience from his first "big stage" performance. That must be a lot to take in for anyone of any age, never mind a young guy like George! So what if he said it was his best performance ever? Hes learnt on the street basically, its such a leap to perform on BGT semi finals it must be gobsmacking.

I personally didnt feel any sense of insincerity, more a case of being shocked at the situation? But I guess we all read things in different ways.

So basically if you are a teenager or hysterical mother then you wet your pants over this kid who just waves his arms about in a shower.

If not then you are someone who can see that there is just no talent there.

I think the boys incredible, and really hope he wins. He is a such a talented dancer, but I think he needs to work on his choreography.
