That’s fair enough, but it’s my opinion that such a way of judging someone is pretty terrible. It’s a vague impression at best that has no real merit and yet people talk about it on here as if it means something, and I really don’t think it’s very nice.
It may be natural to get vibes off of people, but the world would be a nicer place if we were more aware of the limits of our capability to judge – especially when talking in a public sphere about a kid.
It should be pointed out though that a lot of my ire in that regard is directed at other people who have been quite unpleasant about him, so sorry for speaking generally.

Lots of people liking someone is not hysteria.

“But with George, Simon was fawning all over him despite a very hit and miss performance which was very patchy and inconsistent.”
But the two don’t compare. Firstly and most obviously, YOU think that george’s performance was patchy, but that’s just your take on it. Someone like me on the other hand (after admittedly thinking that it could have been better at first), after looking at the performance a few times, think that it was actually very well worked indeed. When you see stumbling and arm flapping, I see a change of pace and a really interesting switch to dancing to the sample instead of synth.
Secondly, in an artistic performance such as that one, mistakes aren’t necessarily all that important as long as it still works overall. The ball kid had an act based around precision … and it wasn’t precise at all. You can’t really overlook that so easily as in a more artistic performance.

“And I do think he was milking the audience a bit and playing up to them. When he was saying it was the greatest performance of his life, my natural feeling was to feel that he was being disingenuous and trying to do a number on the audience.”
It makes me laugh that some people are saying he’s trying to be humble to win votes, and yet a couple of posts later there’s someone saying that he’s trying to big up his own performance. I mean it’s crazy
I’m not actually criticising you on this one, I just find it really strange - the assumption that he has such a mind for manipulation (and yet would choose a really BAD tactic) that he has used his comments as a ploy is just absolutely bizarre to me.
