His story is true, he dances on the streets to pay for dance lessons NOT stage school, he lives in a pretty rough area of manchester and so what if he had the props and everything? It doesn't make him less talented.

His performance was not great at all. In fact it was all over the place Most of it was the waterfal gimmick. I dont really see where the skill is in splashing around and flaping your arms under a shower of water. There were a lot of people doing this sort of dancing and George was a long way from being the best.

Signature were given that massive stage set up because beyond shrugging of shoulders and raising arms and copying off Michael Jackson to popularise Sony BMG's (Simon Cowell's Record Company interest) re-release of Thriller - they're nothing.

I agree Beer - I can't believe that people are taking pops at this young lad who puts so much passion and heart into what he does, and is really good at it.

But Signature is a dance troupe of which the two are members - they appear in different numbers depending on the routine. I get the impression that Suleman Mirza is the choreographer. There are videos on youtube from the dance group - sometimes with just the two guys, sometimes with a large group - I'm sure the group dancing with Suleman in the semi-final are in one of the videos.
So I'm not sure there is any need to name each individual Signature dancer in the ITV bio or even mention them as the two guys are the lead characters. I'm pretty sure that they would use their own Signature dancers with whom they have worked since years probably on similar routines, rather than ITV provided dancers who know nothing about their style.

No those dancers who came in were basically dancers hired in on the night given to Signature. I have this one on authority.
There are only two signature dancers.
One of them dances Bhangra, the other one is a Michael Jackson tribute artist who lives off the massive MJ fascination in India.
They're not all that.
As for dancers not know their style Liz, it was just bhangra dancing (there are fat blokes around the world, drunk, at weddings weekly around the world!! who dance Bhangra - it's not difficult - raise your arms and shrug your shoulders) and the Thriller dance routine which has been copied by thousands of dance troupes around the world since the 80s.
Nothing new. And not difficult.

I think you didn't watch their routine carefully - MJ featured for less than 1/3 of the routine - it is about so much more, it is about different cultures meeting, having a dance off, the MJ dancer thinking he is superior etc. They explained it in their Telegraph interview. A lot is lost by the camera angles. The audience saw it all and loved them, as do all three judges. No-one who has seen them live seems to degrade their act to being nothing more than a cheap copy, it has never been seen as such.

The point is LIz is that people are complaining about the production help that George got with his routine - I have nothing against Signature and wish them well in the final.
But if they were provided dancers and costumes for the semi final, then they had help as well - Escala also had flame throwers and spectacular backing shots of flames.
Actually, I don't know why I'm bothering to argue about it - People who want to find fault will whatever anyone else says.

OK Cultures meeting? I don't understand that but all dance styles are about cultures meeting. George's style is more so because more cultures are more interested in George's style because it is used a lot more. Suleman's Culture dances Bhangra. Madhu's does too - how is that cultures meeting when one of them is a MJ tribute artist? What cultures are meeting?

Again, Signature are only two people.
They are being used to advertise Michael Jackson and Thriller's re-release.
The videos on YouTube with other dancers, is again - with hired dancers for events and routines. Honestly, these things are done on the cheap.
If you copy things from other people, don't tell people about a hidden member - it is no cleverly thought out. It's just saying, let's copy off somebody else.
This isn't negativity and scorn. If I don't like them, I don't like them. How can I be positive about something fabricated and ordinary.

No I don't clearly dislike them. You may like them beyond what is seen on TV but I don't like the routine. It was dull and boring. Just because I dislike the routine and you think they're the ebst thing to happen to the world since the wheel - doesn't mean I have animosity to them

I just told you, how can it be a dance off if it's pre-orchestrated and just like the first audition (there wasn't much difference) they say, "let's be friends anyway". You think it's a dance off - I think it's a load of nonsense made to fool people into think it's a dance off.

This was choreographed where one of them grabbed his crotch a lot and copied off the thriller routine and the other, raised his arms and shrugged his shoulders. Apart from being ordinary, fabricated and dull and with the use of a lot of hired help that were more talented than signature, it was not a dance off.

I think we will have to agree to differ Beer. I do not like Signature beyond the show, I have never seen them before and will probably never see them again. Their two performances just happen to be my favourite performances of the whole show, along with Gin. I know George is very talented because everyone is raving about him including the judges, but I cannot see it myself because the dance style is so alien to me I cannot tell who is the best, who is good and who is average. That is why I do not comment on him.
But I also think that the MJ impersonator is very talented, like George, he is a natural dancer.
But one last word on this dance off, it was symbolic - each showing their moves and trying to top the moves of the other. I also liked how the two backing groups mirrored these moves - and I love the music they use.
It all comes down to personal taste.

But I'm not knocking him for ripping off the advert at all.
I'm simply stating my opinion that he isn't original in response to another poster who claimed that he was, and in a previous post I didn't blame George for ripping the ad, I definitely suggested it would be the show and I explained why.
And the routine definitely borrowed from sequences directly taken from within the advert. Some direct copies, some stylistic.
I didn't say it was a crime, I didn't say he was evil,....I simply replied to another poster who claimed that he was original.
I couldn't give a damn if he's 14 year old boy. I'm going to judge based on what I see. The age of children is often used as an excuse to give them a bit of slack. That's like trying to play a sympathy card.
I've already said in a couple of posts that he's young and has a lot of potential to be very good in the future as he pursues his talent.
But that is conveniently ignored because many 'fans' on the internet like to attack as a means of supporting their favourite so will just select what they perceive to be negatives instead of trying to find common ground with other posters.
I've said on several occasions that I'm looking forward to George's performance tonight.

Here I am on the day of the final with him marked down as my second favourite, I've put my disappointment of the other night's performance behind me having said that it was a new day yesterday and look forward to watching him in the final, but I'm getting fanboy central on my case carrying on and on and on ranting about how bad I am for simply not being 'on message' and not worshipping his amazing genius 100%.
I think I'm allowed an opinion which may not be a ringing endorsement of original genius.
If somebody makes a bold claim, then any poster is entitled to post to disagree with that claim if they don't agree with it, without having all the negative personal snipes directed at them just because they didn't agree with such a bold statement.

Here I am on the day of the final with him marked down as my second favourite, I've put my disappointment of the other night's performance behind me having said that it was a new day yesterday and look forward to watching him in the final, but I'm getting fanboy central on my case carrying on and on and on ranting about how bad I am for simply not being 'on message' and not worshipping his amazing genius 100%.
I think I'm allowed an opinion which may not be a ringing endorsement of original genius.
If somebody makes a bold claim, then any poster is entitled to post to disagree with that claim if they don't agree with it, without having all the negative personal snipes directed at them just because they didn't agree with such a bold statement.”

TBH Alrightmate, your posts are very reasoned and sensible and I'm not having a go at you. I think the camerawork and the rain itself obscured much of his dancing and I was disappointed with that myself, but thats not what I'm getting annoyed about.
George himself has never claimed to be "original". That is the claim that Simon Cowell has made for him that has been picked up on by so many posters. Don't have a go at the boy himself and try and make him out to be fake and disingenuous because of something that Simon Cowell said.
Another thing is that the attacks on his personality after a very short interview after he came off stage and was enthusiastic anbout his performance and suddenly the all seeing seers on the forum "know" that he's not genuine. blah blah blah - Meh

Sorry buddy, this is Britain's Got Talent not X-Factor. Just because she is 12 years old and can sing well doesn't mean she should win. The winner will be preforming in the Royal Variety Show. Let's give someone else like George or another act but not singing!! So boring.
She does not deserve to win. She deserves a record deal, yes, when she reaches 18. Should be concentrating on her education instead of starting a long-term career so early.

To be honest, when I scrolled down the page and spotted that you'd replied to me, I thought "Oh no, please don't be having a go at me again"
Just to briefly address a couple of things.
I wasn't having a go at George himself for being unoriginal. As I said in the last couple of posts I was just responding to a claim by somebody that he was original. That was a mighty bold statement which I disagreed with that's all.
Then there's the stage show routine, I was squaring the ripoff of the VW ad to the show itself.
That's it. Nothing that bad.
I don't think he is original. But as I also said, I think he has talent, ability, and promise. And I think he has every opportunity to learn and develop originality the more that he learns.
At the moment he is using the traditional moves I've seen many times before. But that's no bad thing. Nothing wrong with that at all. He can be pretty good.
Yes I've made some observations about the way he acted after his performance the other night. These are only minor niggles and nothing major.
It's nothing. it's two days ago.
The only reason that some things appear bad is because posts are getting dredged back up and constantly referred to. This I believe distorts and amplifies the perception that things said were worse than they actually are.
It makes little things into a big deal.
I think it's fair to allow room for criticism as well as praise.
I know he's 14 and maybe some people see some criticisms as harsher due to the nature of his age being a factor brought into it.
But...I think people tend to see children on television as perfect innocent angels (I know that this sounds bad as I'm writing it, but I don't mean it to be
) and that it sounds harsher if a poster suspects that a kid may be slightly manipulative in some way.

I genuinely am looking forward to watching George in the final, and I think that I like him. when comparing all the acts together I'd put him at my second or third favourite act. Because I love to watch body popping anyway and he's an act who can provide that. I'd be happy for him if he won.
He's certainly one act who I'd wish luck to on the day of the final, and would be interested in seeing what he does if he happens to pop up (excuse the pun) on television over the next year.
My preference is for Strike, but George and Nemisis also come high up on my list.
Hopefully we can forget about opinions expressed over the last few days because they don't feel that relevant today and we can just be more positive for a few days and just chat about George and his future options.

The problem is that when you say something on here , someone else then says something worse and everyone gets lumped in together.
George has something about him IMO and sob stories can only take you so far - Madonna and Craig being a case in point.
As for age - it has to be a consideration because people are voting on potential as well as current talent. Faryl is not as good now as she will be in 5 years time but people will consider her age when they watch her. If she was 20 they might have been more critical about her song choice or the fact that she was virtually inaudible at times.
As you say, lets put the bad behind us and enjoy the show and let's hope the best performance on the night wins the day -
(even if we won't all agree on which one that is)And yes - I'd be interested to see some of those body popping VTs
