Yes! I completely agree that women have for years been treated as sexual object and that that was completely wrong and inappropriate. However, in are more enlightened times I would have thought that this sort of objectification of either sex would have stopped. In addition, I believe it is the role of everyone including those in the feminism movement to help end this instead of prompting its reversal.
In regards to your second point about Strike not being under any pressure to take their tops off, I agree that the initially pressure may not have be overt but with Miss Holden's repeated and inappropriate comments regards their appearance they became pressured to continue to appear topless in order to win the competition. People now have expectations regarding their performance and would look less favourably if they were not meet. |

May be men need to realise just how appallingly women were being - and in some cases still are - treated.
Quick, somebody should tell this to the descendants of slavery and of the Holocaust! |

I haven't posted over here before, lol.
I thought Piers showed Double Standards last night. He buzzed off the Urban Gypsies and criticised them for their act, yet he liked Anya Sparks and basically praised her for the same thing he slated the Urban Gypsies for. |

So just because something terrible was done to one section of the population then it is appropriate for that to happen to another section of the population as long as it is a direct role reversal?

I could understand if they did their routine in only a thong why you might say they were being treated as sexual objects!!

*Confused*
How are they different? Both are anatomical regions that have a significant sexual connotation. Most heterosexual men find female breasts arousing just like most heterosexual females find a nicely shaped/sculpted torso arousing. If is just that society has decided that one is accepted to be seen on prime time television while the other is smutty and pornographic. Methinks that could be a bit of a double standard! It's political correctness gone mad, I tell you! ![]() It was bad enough when the women were whining about equal rights on the most trivial of things without men starting as well! Quote:
I agree but the double standard comes when sociaty considers one to be more acceptable then the other. In Addition, one is sold in a shop to be used in the confines of ones own home while the other is being presented to a family audience during prime time television. There in lies the difference!
Mainstream music features scantily clad women prancing around... the list goes on! Whether one exposes nipples isn't really the point. Both are "sexually objectified" and tbh, I couldn't really care less. I'm sure Strike are thrilled at the attention and the women watching are happy. |

And yet Sophie Mai was, and Scala will be, "sexually objectified" in front of 10 million viewers when they perform. Last night Ant and Dec "sexually objectified" Irresistable as they walked off the stage etc.

PS personally I would have no problems watching a bit of pole/lap dancing on Britain's Got Talent but if would have to be fully naked - of course.

Of course its a double standard (to an extent) but it's a long standing social custom that female breasts have far more sexual connotations than a mans chest. As much as I would love to see more naked women on primetime TV, I can fully accept that it is unacceptable in this world.

It's interesting that after this lengthy discussion earlier in the week teeth and tits (in the form of Escala) get through to the final. What's the world coming to!

![]() ![]() Have to say that if Ms Holden gets her way the lads will be ripping off their trousers as well, bring it on!! why not, long as they are not in thongs underneath, dont think my blood pressure could take that! Come on, what is the problem, two lads rip off their shirts, Ms Holden all but passes out, so they are pretty much forced to do it again, and now she wants MORE, will we get more is the question. Nudity does not bother me, but it is how it is portrayed that does! Maybe we need a couple of sumo wrestlers for you guys next year topless! While the men drool over the snails I will be looking for the best act and for me so far that has nothing to do with naked or semi naked men or women. Signature and George all the way for me, followed by Nemisis, and yes I do like singers, but on X factor not this show, and I LOVE violins but not by people asked to enter a show! that shot them well and truely in the teeth and tits for me Ben! |

Read the papers my friend, it was in them, SCALA were asked to enter the show, and played the X factor party bash NOW how long ago was that, certainly not recently!! now that kinda tells you he knew them does it not!
That is where he met them or first asked them to play not sure which on that count, he was obviously so impressed, hardly surprising as they are good, polished professionals. But I dont like to be duped, had I not been impressed I would not have known about the videos being taken off, the website being altered and the name of the band and website being changed, it all stinks if you ask me, had they been upfront from day one maybe people like me would not feel the way we do and there are more than me peed off about it. I liked them and copied over some videos to my own site which then suddenly get removed, a website there one minute gone the next and then back with a new name plastered all over it, the name change not necessary for over 2 years while they have made mega bucks playing corporate affairs, now has to be altered! I know it is a show open to all, but be open with it then, I nearly put tit it then!! ha ha. I do think this will be in the papers as people are not impressed, it has been covered up so well, think about it, Simon has not raved about Scala who he KNEW, but has about Faryl maybe he hoped that would take the heat off anyone finding out his connection to them, and they have supported other acts and were known already by the ITV, so maybe people should have told the truth at the start eh! |

I would not quote this if I thought it were untrue, but I have every reason to believe this is true, and I also believe it showed tonight with the comments, the standing of the judges, it was all just a bit too much.
And look at the equipment it cost thousands for that stuff, so they have good earning jobs with Escala or Scala as they were, some of these acts have the clothes they stand in basically, which is where the unfairness for me comes in, these girls have had plenty of breaks, some of those acts have had none! Rant over! as I say I know they are talented I happen to love violin music, passionately in fact., especially the modern crossover stuff, but I think this reeks of rigging. I hope to god they do not win Kev, the papers may end up eating them alive. |

I have heard that the x-factor wrap party is a lie, and it was only 1 of the girls who played as part of an orchestra when michael bouble appeared.

I suspect if there had been a fat man dancing like that moose last night, the audience would have shouted 'off!'
Also Amanda told that magic act that some things belong behind closed doors, then that burlesque act were told that they weren't sexy enough and didn't take enough off. |

Quick, somebody should tell this to the descendants of slavery and of the Holocaust! I don't think even the strongest most hardcore of feminist groups would put sexism or womens rights / mens rights on par with the Holocaust or slavery. Baaaaad example. ![]() I'd understand if they were doing the helicopter but I think your taking this juuuust a little too far. :-/ |
