am i the only one that didnt think that faryl's performance was all that they made it out to be. shes a great singer but i just didnt think her performance tonight was any good. i think the judges had built up soo much hype around her that even tho it wasnt a great performance they had to act like it was so that they didnt look stupid.

(hope that makes sense kinda feel like i was rambling a bit)

The show moves quickly and to talk about just one act for a short length of time, would not really give enough time to get into the debate as the next act would come on. Would it be better to start a thread whether Andrew was miming or not?

I thought that she was incredibly good, especially for a 12 year old - though Charlotte Church was better at that age - but her voice did seem to fade to a murmur in parts. Might have been the song. But I don't think it was...

Shocking that... a judge paid to give opinions is actually giving one! He thinks Faryl has star potential, I think he honestly believes that. I don't see any problem.

I think he felt it didn't work as well as he would have hoped. But he thinks she is brilliant and likes the song, they just weren't right for each other. (I confess, I thought they were before I heard it, still, her voice was brilliant).

I totally agree. She's a phenomenal singer for her age but at the age of 12 her vocal chords are still developing.
My friend's daughter has wanted to be an opera singer from around the age of nine and has an astonishing voice. My friend took advice and was told that no serious opera teacher would take on a pupil younger than sixteen.

I think there's a simple difference here. Faryl and her family want fame and money a la Charlotte Church. My friend's daughter wants to sing opera and will work and strive and slog to that end. She's sixteen now and ready to go. If she's successful she'll maybe reach her potential in ten years. It isn't for money - it's for her love of music.

Why not just give him his big 3 minutes in the sun
