For me the lady's movement around the stage was actually worse than her singing, though thought the overall act was entertaining enough compared to some of the other dreary contestants we had to sit through the full repertoire without any contrived buzzers going off.

Naughty Simon but I was glad when the act was over. The changes were quick and impressive but were starting to be boring. And she should NOT have sung.

It's Simon's show. I think he can do what he wants to!!!

So what's the point in having other judges to cast their choice of vote when you are going to do it for them? This was a bit childish in my opnion. Simon should have just waited till the act was over. He's a grown man. Surely he can show some maturity?

Pretty sure something like this happened before but I think it was one of the other judges last time.

Perhaps the buzzers should be under the desk so it can't happen again.

I wonder how Simon would feel if when the final act of the evening came on, you know, the one with the big sob story and big climactic stage production, Piers just quickly pressed all three buzzers in the first 5 seconds?

Andrew, George, Faryl, all those, Piers just went nuts and pressed all three buzzers denying them the chance to even perform. Lol.

I would LOVE that! There would be a full scale riot!

That was really something else. I think that Vizage themselves could be as good if they didn't have to waste rehearsal time practising the songs. Give that up, and just choose the approriate backing track, I say... I don't think her voice was that awful - just not up to it.

i don't think it was fair either - i was actually talking about the same thing in the Gallifrey Inn (a thread on the Doctor Who forum) and then i came here to come and find this thread. i think its totally unfair - it may be Simon's show but why have the other judges then???

To con the public into believing it is an open and fair competition complete with independent judges. The truth is the other judges are all employed by Simon and had better do his bidding if they want to keep their jobs.

I do think that the idea CAN work.
If the act somehow had a narrative strand and was telling a story of some kind that related to what was happening on stage, then yes, I think that could be a brilliant act done right.

But if you're singing a song which has absolutely nothing to do with the act you're performing on stage it's two completely different things disconnected from each other and isn't going to make any sense at all to whoever's watching it.
You're asking the audience to focus on two entirely different things which aren't even related to each other in any way at all, so you make them completely lose focus on either of those two things. How can the audience concentrate on either thing?

It'd be like asking Rihanna to sing 'Umbrella' whilst juggling with two chainsaws. It would make absolutely no sense whatsoever to whomever was watching.
Or Derren Brown singing 'Hey Ya' whilst performing a card trick on somebody.

It's a no-brainer. How could anybody possibly even contemplate that it might work?

Does anyone know how the quick change act is done?! I'm desperate to know!

However I admire them for sticking to their act and not compromising it. It was a unique act but I think their audition was much better, moreso if she ditched the singing but as I said its good they believe in their act.

It was unfair and I think they should have at least made the top 3.”

WOW!! That American act were fantastic. Now THAT was quick change!!!

They are basically wearing all the outfits in layers and it is all just velcro (spl) at the right time and the last outfit is wrapped up in the fabric they used to cover themselves. Obviously the faster the better.

It wasn't anywhere near as bad as the judges made out, definitly not bad enough so that they didn't deserve to finish. I mean look at some of the other crap that has been allowed to finish in the finals, like star wars keyboard guy and two old pensioners and a piano. The just buzzed them out for dramatic effect. I enjoyed their act.

I thought they were really good. Ok, so her voice was dodgy but the rest of it was pretty good in my opinion.

I find it appaling that the likes of Deans of Magic and Michael Machell were put through to be jeered at, booed and made a spectacle of. Not only is it most unfair to raise their hopes and treat them like that but it is also unfair on genuine good acts who went home and could have taken their places. Shocking what they are prepared to do to people for ratings.

He shouldn't have done it. I felt really sorry for the woman, it must have been a bit embarrasing to have everyone slagging off her singing.

I find it appaling that the likes of Deans of Magic and

I think that Simon C's description of them as something out of readers wives was pretty accurate. There was something very unnerving and creepy about them and an extremely unnattractive couple to boot.

But if they have all the outfits on surely they would look fat? Plus some of the outfits are longer dresses than others. And where do the outfits disappear to once taken off?!

Si must have been allowed to push Amanda's buzzer in the past. How else did she get the job

(Kidding, actually -- I really like Amanda Holden )

Magic.

I don't see why people are claiming that the whole "quick change" thing is fake. It can't be fake. Some are claiming that the woman looked big at the start of the stunt's, and then got gradually thinner....eh? The woman was the exact same size at the end as she was at the start. She wasn't wearing dresses underneath, because we would have SEEN THEM. I can't believe people are dismissing it as if it's some cheap act. When the woman's body is concealed, there is about one second before she steps out with a different dress. How can anyone dress in under a second? In fact, if she was wearing dresses underneath then it would have took her more than a second to take the top dress off. Plus, where would the dresses go when she gets changed? There was none on the floor.

Well, I was watching the American magicians doing this that is provided in a link that's somewhere in this thread I think, and you can see that the 'new dress' sort of comes down if you like when she has this sort of thing that looks like a circle with strands flowing down. It has these strands flowing from the top of this circular thing that she is holding. But if you look closely, you can see that the new dress (purple in colour) appears to come down. I say comes down, but it's just so quick that I'm assuming that it's coming down. I guess it might be easier if someone had one of these videos on a dvd, then they could use the step feature to maybe see how it's actually appearing on her. Whether it's coming from the top, or, somewhere else. I know people might say what do you expect, but, I think it would have been absolutely mind blowing if they could have done this a lot quicker. Because when they were in these blankets or whatever, it really looked like they were preparing for the next new dress, and not like the next dress was just appearing on her. Although, saying this though, that part with the strands thing that she's holding up, this is the closest you get to see how the dress changes. Mind you though, you have to really concentrate hard on looking at the strands though. Some of what I've said sounds a bit complicated, but once you have seen the video of the American magicians, you'll know what I'm talking about...........hopefully.

Yeah, the dress does come down somehow in their act, but how I just can'tfigure out. One of the users on youtube says that at 59 seconds (which is what I was talking about), you can see the fella doing something to the woman's back. Hmmn, baffling.
