Centre Speaker Positioning
OK ...
So in a ideal world and in an ideal room we would have our surround sounds systems set up as per the manual. i.e. left and right front and rear and the centre speaker in the centre of the front two speakers with the TV. But we don't... Due to my room configuration I am unable to put the TV into the centre of the two speakers as it is positon in the corner (under the left speaker). So what to do with the centre speaker? Do I leave central between the two speakers and put up with the dialogue coming from somewhere else other than the TV or reunite the centre speaker with the TV and play with volumes and balance to achieve a decent sound. Any ideas and opinions? Thanks. |

I have the same problem (tv in corner of room). Basically i just have the centre speaker on top of the tv in the middle, and the left and right front speakers also on top of the tv but on each of the corners, pointing out at an angle. Its not great, but it works.

The centre speakers needs to be with the TV. The sound that comes from this should be the sounds of things that are on the picture of the TV itself. Placing it to one side will give the impression of action on screen sounding like it's coming from the speaker, probably very weird and disorientating.
The left and right should be placed either side of the TV equidistantly if possible although balancing the speakers out with your amp controls can be effective also (but not as good). |
