Scala or Escala?

On BGMT their name was put on the screen as Escala. So which is correct?
All eight acts had glimpses of their rehearsals shown, and I am not sure about Scala(Escala)'s choice of what they'll perform on Friday.

I wonder if they have had to change their name due to copyright reasons from Italy? That was my first thought when I saw the new spelling of their name.

They have indeed changed their name and added the E.

Not sure why- theres mentioned of a club and a female choir of same name so any of these reasons may have attributed to change.

sure we will find out tonight

From the Mirror:

Quote:
“Britain's Got Talent: row over Scala's name
Electric string quartet Scala have been forced to change their name - because it belongs to a little-known female voice choir in Belgium.

The girls, a favourite for tonight's semi-final, changed to Escala after EMI threatened to sue, despite having used it for two years.

An insider said: "They have their own website and branding, so they're very annoyed."”

Weren't they called something else before Scala too?

I didn't recognise the song they are going to be playing tonight but they only played a snippet. The audition song was recognisable, I couldn't name it but I'd heard it before. I hope they aren't let down by poor song choice.

As soon as Scala appeared at the audition stage, my wife was surprised that they were allowed to use the name as she had just bought a CD by a Belgian Choir of the same name.

So here we are ready for the final and the name changes.

I will now get the "told you so" from my good lady when the programme starts tonight.

For anyone interested the Belgian Choir are pretty good and cover rock songs, everything from U2 to Depeche Mode, and I can recommend their Dream On album.

For tonights show I hope Escala progress and the comic if his material is up to it, as there needs to be variety in the Final

Scala Choir are quite famous aren't they? well I recognise the name, I liked their "Smells like teen spirit"

Escala should have done something like Danse Macabre (the Jonathon Creek theme) a tune people recognise easily
