What's playing on AV1?
Video recorders can sometimes have glitches on tere Hi-Fi track which can cause the sound on some TV's to default to mono. Also glitches/interference caused by sparks/switches can cause digital and analogue TV signals to faulter for a fraction of a second and again the TV can lose the stereo and drop to mono. Don't know of a way of preventing the defaulting only that some would allow you to choose the mono soundtrack only but that would not get you surround obviously. |

The Philips may have a fault but equally it could be very sensitive to signal fluctuations causing it to revert very quickly to mono. It may be an idea to have it checked.
