I wasnt suprised at the comment as it has seemed they didnt want Jodie to win the whole way through; I dont agree with what Cameron said (and Im very disappointed because he seems like such a nice guy!) but I can understand that he is looking out for
the interests of his production by wanting to make sure he has people who are fit enough to carry off all 8 shows a week. However I think he is under-estimating Jodie, she is not 'fat' and she will manage the role fine anyway- if she had the determination to loose all that weight then she can do 8 shows a week.

I dont know much about eating disorders but I wouldnt think he's comments will directly contribute to someone's problem - unless the person wants to be in showbiz but I assume the pressure would already be there. What I think would make a impact is if she actually went and lost the weight to keep the role, if she is true to herself and gets the role then I think it will actually have a positive impact for young girls.

Off topic is less important than your wellbeing - glad you're well now.

An IDA addiction probably compares quite favourably with other obsessions; imagine you could be addicted to BB

I think I understand -that explains her emotion; so did the Daily Mirror quote CM before or after the show? In fact did he even comment on her size - or was it just a bit more red top sensationalism?

Whatever - it isn't fair on a contestant facing the final.

I think it would be bad if Jodie gets it and then loses a lot of weight to try to conform to someone else's idea of what is acceptable. That would give a wrong message.

Or even lose any weight at all! She is a lovely normal woman.

I would think that training for 6 months and then 8 shows a week she will probably loose some weight, I think anyone would as that is a demanding schedule but I hope she doesnt go out of her way to diet and loose any weight because of any comments about her.

There is a similar article in the Daily Star which states that ALW has said that if Jodie was to win then she would have to keep to a strict diet and keep her eye on the scales.

Actually, Ignazio, you've made me slow down and think about this a teeny bit more rationally. I think this has probably been blown a bit out of proportion. What Cameron actually said on the show, was that he thought Jodie was a bit 'matronly', which kind of implies a weight issue, but could have much more to do with age. In the context of her singing her song (which is what he was reacting to), it might have had to do with her being a bit staid and holding back with the emotion. It was Andrew's interpretation of this remark, in the mail article, that made it about weight.

Cameron did name Jodie as not his Nancy, but I'm not sure how much to read into this. He had to pick someone, there were only four left and the standard was quite high. Rachel's performance was the best of the night, he wouldn't have picked her. I thought Sam was the worst, but he does like her.

This might all have to do with age. Andrew implied, by saving Sam, that Cam wants a young Nancy. However, Cam did seem very enthusiastic about the idea of Rachel as Nancy and there's only a year or two between Rach and Jodie.

Jodie did remarkably well before - she lost eight stone. That shows determination and a strength of character. No doubt (if she wins - I hope she does) she will lose weights - look at what happened to Connie. I don't think she needs to lose weight. What is CM thinking?

Is it a dangerous subject for Cameron to comment on?

Does this help/hinder kids who suffer eating problems.

Is he the most responsible person to be telling others how they should look.

Is an average size not acceptable in MT?.

what are your thoughts. ?”

People are often quite quick to dismiss comments like the ones made by CM, and also ALW's meatloaf comment, but those sort of comments add to an already frightening trend!
Girls as young as 8 are treated for eating disorders, and alot of experts n this field feel strongly that areas such as the fashion industry and people like victoria beckham are causing this problem to increase. Girls feel a massive pressure to be thin, as everywhere you look thin is being portrayed as beautiful, popular, successful!
IDA has set a terrible example - making out that to succeed in MT you must be stick thin and a child! Jodie is a size 14, the average size in this country is 16, she is also only 28 years old, yet she is being made out to be basically fat and old! It is discusting, and as usual, it is ugly old men saying these sort of comments!

I think like anything with the routine of the show she will lose weight normally.......like the did on SCD they lost two stone..........I think Jodie is fit, she would have to be to do the routines in the Biggest Loser....

It can be overstated - but it can also implant the need to be thin image/thought, and often in alot of people it can get out of control and result in an illness, as you have clearly experienced. I think you are very brave to be honest on here. I wish ugly old men like ALW and CM would engage their brains more often!

but whats even more shocking is I dont see the press confronting Cameron for saying it.......he felt quite comfortable in saying that about a person.........thats disgusting.........

She'd had a very unhappy life and the eating disorder seemed to be a form of control for her. I am so sorry to hear you lost your friend honey. You are right, severe eating disorders have nothing to do with the media - but it is so worrying and unhealthy that the impression that thin is the only way to be is so readily shown by the media as it can def affect young girls, and boys for that matter. models have died wanting to be size zero like VB

I often hear people commenting on how the media doesn't cause eating disorders.
Although I agree to a certain extent that anorexia and bullimia are very often nothing to do with the portrayal of female celebrities in newspapers/magazines etc, it cannot be denied that these sort of comments have a huge impact on the mindset of young girls.

I'm 20, and when I was my early teens I used to read magazines and cry because I didn't feel good enough! And looking back, I was a size 6...ridiculous. I remember watching that S Club 7 TV show when I was very young and looking in the mirror afterwards thinking "I will never be as pretty as those girls". The younger generation is just bombarded with images of "perfection" every day and it causes such low self-esteem and insecurity.

If Cameron or ALW really did say this, (and it might be worth taking with a pinch of salt as it's only the mirror and the star), they should be really embarrassed and ashamed of themselves.

I think I read somewhere that Jodie is a size 12? That's perfectly healthy. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that obesity should be condoned either, but making out that a perfectly normal, healthy size is "too fat" is just asking for trouble.

there is no hiding the fact that jodie is larger than both sam and jessie... but who gives a rats arse about that!!! when you flick over the channels on tv today it is very rare to see a women of an average size. look at the soaps for instance i can only think of three or four of the characters main female characters in all of them that an avergae size.

its a sad fact that in today's (media) society that people who are an average size are shunned. jodie has done remarkable well and yes before she went on the biggest looser she was clinically obsese but look at her now. IMO there is nothing wrong with the way jodie looks, infact i think she looks the most nancy like af the 3 remaining contestants. for CM and ALW to comment on her size is irresponsible of them especially considering their positions within MT.

althought i stand by the fact that i personal dont think that there is anything wrong with the way jodie looks... if it was required of her i believe she would not have a problem with loosing a little bit of weight... but i think she suits her current weight. And lets be honest when (fingers crossed) she win, surely during the rehersals and the eight shows a week she'll probably loose a bit of weight anyway with the extra excersie.

Im sure Jodie has heard and saw worse..........she knows the only opinon that matters is the ones that love her. The public have been behind her since the beginning, she knows that and we are not fickle enough to be conned into believing this rubbish.....Cameron has taken a huge gamble ( if he did in fact say it remember....this is the press) and his gamble will back fire....GBP are sick to death of so called experts telling them what they can and cannot like

He wanted us to pick....he chose the candidates...........hes getting who we pick......end of story
