Surely he'd saved Rachel TWICE before, not three times! Misprint, maybe? I'm sure he wouldn't say who he thought would win even if he had a clear idea - we don't know whether he finds out how many votes each girl receives, do we?

I thought it was interesting that he had so much to say about Jessie. How he thought she was going to another Lee/Connie front runner, but wasn't able to sustain it. But he said he still felt she had a really good chance and he seemed really aware that the Liza Minelli masterclass thingy would be most relevant for her. I don't get the impression he's rooting for Jodie really, the 'oh and Jodie's fantastic' was a bit dismissive. But that's hardly a big shock.

i think he is more worried about sam with the comment "the younger one", it seems he is a bit disappointed with some of jessie's performances, but he is partly to blame with some of the songs he has gave her, he seems to be doing his utmost for her to win though, as i think the training with liza, was largely for her

Unfortunately for Jessie I don't think it is just the songs I think it is her interpretation of them that has gone wrong. Don't get me wrong she has an amazing voice but I really think it would be wrong to put her in a West End Show now as she is too raw and I think could possibly end up destroying both her voice and confidence. I think a year or two at stage school, which she would clearly get into any school now, and she would bring the house down in a true leading lady role not as Nancy (which is honestly not a massive role). As with Sam she has such a great voice when she is not shouting and that needs to be addressed as I think she would shout automatically on a large stage and theatre thinking she needs to. Also there is a part of me that is still questioning again her age and experience and also whether she is more suited to pop now and to perhaps move into theatre afterwards. It seems to be easily done now. The thing about Sam that confuses me is that in all her interviews she says she doesn't wear short skirts or shorts and skimpy clothing in real life so what the producers have gone and done is not shown us the real Sam throughout this show which is actually unfair. I'd like to see the real Sam this week and view it from there but I still think both would make much better leading ladies if they trained more and rested their voices. As for Jodie, she has the courageous nature of Nancy through and through. Be honest with yourself, would you go on tv in a swimming costume and get yourself weighed each week for the nation to watch. That takes real determination and courage. I also believe and all the girls say it that she is a genuine person so she has the softer side too. As for the matronly comment last week (she can't help how they dress her). I am personally backing her to win as I think she has the depth for the role however I am very much looking forward to seeing the other two doing roles in the future and I think I could see Sam as Epinone in Les Miserables to start with and Jessie in Mama Mia. She so has the voice to carry off that show. But in a year or so's time for both of them. What does everyone else think?

They thought Rachel and Sam would go through - why would they think that if they knew the voting from previous weeks?
Rachel didn't have support as she was in the bottom two so she went -but she had more votes than Sam in the SF and was getting better.
If they discussed who should go of Jessie and Jodie who didn't they want - looks like Jodie.
Jessie lost momentum - yes but who gave her the songs that lost the momentum? Who didn't shut Barrowman up?
Jessie might pull it out on the night but Jodie is great too ....what does that say about Sam?
How do they know anyone can pull it out on the night - some shows do see final night performances changing who wins - on others its all about stories and who looks most like or most attractive to the voters. The show looks even less credible though if Jessie outdoes Judy Garland and Jodie wins made to look like Mrs Mopp.
If Jodie is so far ahead that she is unstoppable, is the aim to still try and stop her, make her look credible as a winner or make it clear they don't want her so she gets more publicity? Back to question one - if they they knew she was that popular why would they be surprised she went straight into the final.........

I think it's still very much a two horse race between Jessie and Jodie. If Jessie has worked with Liza Minelli this week then there is every chance she will be utterly sensational. Her natural comfort zone is in this area and so she will probably blow the other two out of the water.

completely agree, I think ALW has done his best to help jessie this week, he sees the star quality and is trying his best to bring it out

I think it`s just a ploy to drum up more votes for the show

And it didn't happen because Jessie, having started off with two or three really great performances. One performance which I think is the performance of the series, was her doing The Man That Got Away which of course was one of Judy Garland's songs. But she hadn't really come forward since that time.

To be honest though, Helena was usually up against people who were definitely weaker/unsuited contestants (Leanne, Simona, Laura etc) who ALW would probably have got rid of at one point anyway - and Helena made it from the final 5 to second place by herself.
The bigger question for me is Lewis....

yes, that's true Ashrell. But to be in the bottom 5 times, still says she wasn't liked. Out of the final 5, she had no place to go but second. I still think the sing - off is a time filler and the decision is not based on it whatsoever.
