The I'd do anything thread is just below this one and its interesting to see that despite only being on this year its total posts now exceeds the apprentice thread which has been going for a few years.

The apprentice is one of the BBC's top shows but for some reason it's viewers post here far less when compared to the I'd do anything viewers..

Any ideas why this might be so??

The better show gets the least attention in forums

Perhaps the "I'd Do Anything" viewers have difficulty reading and writing?

I don't really care, tbh, it's not a competition...

Personally, I think this forum tends to be much more focused in it's discussion than a lot of the other forums.

The only time I ever read the IDA forum I found a lot of immature posts slagging off the supporters of opposing competitors.

Instead of the mature, intelligent debate found on this forum.....

I think it's the nature of those shows, on average I think that while we all like certain candidates more than others there isn't the same kind of frenzy to it in the main, probably the lack of input in to the outcome is a factor there...

Plus I think there seems to be a lot more comment ground amongst posters here in general.

eta: and of course The Apprentice is a more popular show where it really counts: the ratings and critically.

It's like the BB forum....a lot of twaddle about nothing of interest other than which flipping housemate is the worst/appears in Heat magazine/gets sold down the swanny.

Britain's Got Talent outdid the Apprentice last Tuesday - do I personally have a problem with that? No. Do I see it as a slight to the programme? No. Do I even care? No- I made ,my choice!

Different audiences... the big brother audience is for teens and younger audience who are online alot etc. ... Apprentice is comprised of... well everyone and there is a large older audience who dont use forums aswell as the fact that the apprentice is too good to contemplate about!

I think the fewer posts is partly down to the lack of any influence by the viewers and maybe because the programme appeals to a different category of the public.

Its noticeable how much attention the so called posher newspapers pay to the apprentice. The Independent has a two page spread today with various people supporting their candidates and has had previous articles on the subject as has the Telegraph.

I note the comment on the younger audience for BB but wonder does that apply to IDA?

Not at all - some of us can multitask.

I post on The Apprentice and IDA, what's more I'm not alone. I suggest that Apprentice viewers/posters refrain from feelling in any way superior to those who have interests outside their own enthusiasms. Musical Theatre is not a frivolous interest - on the contrary it requires equal intelligence and ability to analyse performance and ability, and although many posters on the Apprentice forum display reasonable analytical skills, some are clearly even less aware of the aptitude required for business than the much derided IDA or, God forbid, the BB obsessives.

I think I have discovered a new trait - reality tv snobbery.

I totally agree. I don't post on IDA because of my complete ignorance of musical theatre (I enjoy it but being able to compare the abilities of the contestants is a completely different thing) and therefore I don't think that I can provide a sound judgement on their performance.

How very intelligent - how very perspicacious.

I post on both forums - and find equally uninformed, immature posts slagging off supporters of opposing competitors as I find on this forum.

Get over yourselves Apprentice afficionados - you're no more intelligent or perceptive than anyone else.

So that would explain the hatred of Jenny C, Jenny M, Helene and Alex then? Not to mention the derision of Michael, the adoration of Raef and the soft spot for Lucinda and Sara?

I do of course concur with some of these opinions - but I don't consider myself superior to IDA enthusiasts - so why should any other Apprentice fan?

In fact I've seen some posts over here equally lacking in a command of the English language as any other forum - including BB.

C'mon guys, feel the IDA love.
They're both very entertaining shows!
Are any of you tuning in tonight? There is a particularly fantastic Irish girl who is amazing, so if you fancy it vote for her!

May it have something to do with the fact that the public don't have any say who becomes The Apprentice? Could be people think they have more of a right to air their views being as they're the ones choosing Nancy and paying for the privilege to do so!

There's all the appreciation threads thing on there too so I guess that contributes towards it.
