Although I prefer the Apprentice the winner of Ill do anything gets the more prestegious prize i.e. the opportunity to act as a leading lady in front of hundreds of people in London's west end every night. The winner of the Apprentice by contrast gets to work for Sir Alan Sugar managing the promotion of some new piece of technology which probably won't work and hardly anyone will buy!

It's all relative. I have never seen the kind of reaction on this forum on anything like the scale of the hostility that there was last night on the BGT forum that was directed to a 14 year old kid just because many forum members preferred another act to win, for example, and that is what I mean by frenzy. The odd negative thread is one thing, to have a whole board awash with dozens of threads attacking one person, often on a personal level, is quite another.

Absolutely. It worries me that there are people out there whose world is so narrow and inward looking that they feel they have a right to be so vicious. The self righteousness is shocking. It gives me the creeps too Unfortunately it is prevalent on forums such as this. The ability to remain anonymous - to an extent - does provide a platform for those with a lot of anger to vent from their back bedroom and feel powerful, for one nano second.

Heheh

Although each side has its fair share of stupidity, I do think that there are far more redundant threads in the IDA forum - just people whining endlessly about who should be out, discussing clothes and the different judges, in addition to voting stats and that sort of thing. The fact that it takes place over two nights also helps.

I've encountered just as many ill-mannered, obsessive, rude pillocks on The Apprentice forum as I have on IDA.

Fortunately, I've also enjoyed on a much wider scale friendly, reasoned debate from intelligent posters on both forums.

Britain's Got Talent outdid the Apprentice last Tuesday - do I personally have a problem with that? No. Do I see it as a slight to the programme? No. Do I even care? No- I made ,my choice!”

You made the best choice

I agree with much of this Muttley, but have to say some of the smugness and condescension on The Apprentice beggars belief. I imagine the perpetrators hunched over their PC feeling terribly clever as they state opinion as fact; usually prefaced by, "You just don't get it, do you?" insert rolling eyed smiley. This is often followed by "That is just stupid," (or idiotic or imbecilic - take your pick)! Job accomplished, complacent smirk - that's put the preposterous little oiks in their place; they'll think twice before presuming to voice an opinion on a serious thread again!!!

Of course I'm exaggerating - very few on this forum exhibit these tendencies, but in fairness the same applies to IDA and similar. Yes I see a lot of bile spilt - and some very personal remarks directed at other posters - but most banter is good humoured and where it's not, I often see those involved having a laugh at themselves for being so serious.

As for the odd negative thread - yes they far outnumber their Apprentice counterparts, but WOW when the apprentices get their knives out they go for the jugular. I just hope their targets (Alex in particular) have a thick skin. Calculating and conniving seem to be a couple of the milder insults hurled his way; I regularly see treacherous, snide, snake, rat and similar epithets used to describe him. Perhaps he's all of these things, perhaps none - but like other forums a tv persona is being used to judge him and others.

I don't watch BGT - in fact the only reality tv I do watch is SCD, DOI, The Apprentice and whichever MT show ALW is trying to cast.

Me too Scarlet - read many well considered and well constructed opinions, posted by people who are clearly knowledgeable in their field; and they've managed to make their point without resorting to insult and invective.

Long may it continue.

What I find sad is that some people seem to find it so easy to really dislike people.

I find Michael and Alex mildly dislikable but I'm not convinced that Alex would really be that bad out of the very artificial environment that is 'The Apprentice'.

Various other people have the odd annoying habit or have occasionally acted in a manner they may not be too proud of but it's certainly not enough to make me feel a general dislike for them.

Yet certain candidates (and I'm sad to see that this particularly applies to the remaining female hopefuls) seem to attract an almost obsessive contempt from some posters.

I'd love to see some responses from others who actually find it easer to like people than dislike them.

tbh I don't know whether to feel saddened or amused at those posts starting "I hate........."

Just how does one hate a complete stranger - and surely hatred requires far too much energy to waste on a face staring our of a television screen?

I quite agree. As someone who has posted on that forum, and enjoyed the show, I was horrified at some of the posts on Saturiday. It used to be a friendly and informed discussion with a lot of witty chat. Not this time. As to the Apprentice, I don't post because I don't care about the useless publicity-seeking candidates on this series although I watch the show if I'm home and have nothing else to do.

At the end of the day some of the less obsessed of us post because we enjoy the shows and like to exchange a bit of friendly chat about them in spare moments. It's a pity this gets spoiled by that type of hysterical reaction.

Yet another anti Alex thread - is this a record for most disliked candidate on The Apprentice; rather gives the lie to claims by Apprentice enthusiasts that their post/opinions are more considered than those on the more show bizzy forums.

To date I've noted the following:

What exactly did Alex do
Alex and Sir Alan wants someone like this working for him
I can’t bear to watch Alex any longer
Alex or Michael (who is the worst of the two devils)?
Alex – sorry love but you’re the toxic one
Alex working only for commission

No doubt there's more, all of them full of snide remarks and name calling accompanied by grinning smilies.

I'm not a fan - no candidate has really captured my imagination, although I did have a soft spot for Lucinda and Raef, but oh how I'll laugh if Alex wins.

I forecast a frenzy to beat anything on IDA!

if forum member skip from other sub forums to others then they should be warned ... I have been here for a while a fan of most reality tv shows, and if the honourable forum member thinks there is hostility in The BGT thread , then please avoid the Xfactor forum , and most of all Big Brother forum.. take my advice or you will become addicted and end up typing like crazy , with XXXXX amount of posts , and all for what , hmm someone will get/end up with a better life than I have , whether it be this show, or that show, so maybe we shouldput our daughters on the stage, and take an interest in them ....
