Is it me being a bit deaf or do the Microphones not sound loud enough when the singers are on, i thought it last night as well. Sometimes on TV this seems to happen, i noticed it on other shows before?
Is it just that their voices arent very loud. I mean Faryl has a wonderful voice and i could hardly hear her.
Any thoughts?

YES! I think so too. The music TOTALLY drowns out their voices.

Especially with Faryl's performance last night!

I get this a lot on DVD's as well, I think its something to do with surround sound and not having all the channels individually adjustable.

When you see the same performance on Youtube the sound is fine.

I get that when I am watching Coronation Street where I can't hear what the actors are saying.

Singers shouldn't need microphones.
