Has This Show Been Good?

Faves aside, how has the show been for you?

ALW Still barking, good entertainment but a bit ruder that usual.

JB - Same as ever and has now become slightly tedious. Too chummy with DVO and that finger wingling, arm waving, bowing in homage to ALW he and DVO do has now become tiresome.

:yawnVO - Don't know what's happened to her but she's not the lost her sparkle. After the Lee and Fran episodes, maybe she's trying too hard to be taken seriously.

BH - He's clearly knowledgeable but sonehow he just hasn't fitted in with the panel.

GN - He's ok.

Not sure about the show as a whole. Some contestants like Fran and Rachel should have made it to the final. Overall, it's been a bit lacklustre.

Its been amusing more than good! Loads of WTF moments, Loads of Biased behaviour from ALW and the judges, but a few talents like rachel, jodie fran, sarah, keisha and jessie.

Hmm. Once Sarah left, I lost interest in the Nancys. The ones that were imo MT-calibre performers (i.e. Sarah, Rachel, Fran) have left, to leave us with girls who all have problems. The judging this year has been all over the place, ALW irritates me constantly, DVO/JB/BH are hit and miss and there's just so many things that annoy me (Sunday results show, lack of focus on acting, missions shown after lines have closed, wardrobe catastrophes) which took away from the enjoyment. The Olivers made the show still enjoyable for me, but overall, I agree it was quite mediocre and the format is perhaps getting a bit stale.

It's been a bit of a mixed bag, highs and lows, loads of controversy. But I've enjoyed it though, very much! I won't know what to do with myself on a Saturday night now. And I normally can't get anyone to watch these shows with me (my OH makes vomit noises which increase in volume and realism until I have to get him to leave the room) so I've enjoyed the experience of "watching" IDA with all you guys

I have really enjoyed this series - I'm looking forward to tomorrow but also sad that it will be over!

We all like to have a grumble about certain aspects of the show but that is because we love it!!

I'd just like to say I've made some super friends here on DS also and had as much fun in front of a computer than I ever thought was possible!!

It's certainly been thrilling! It's great that there doesn't appear to be one clear favourite in the last few weeks - going to make tomorrow night even more exciting!

I have really enjoyed the show. I didn't watch that much of HDYSAPLM, but was totally hooked to ADWD last year. There was the advantage in it of watching cute young men perform, lol. I don't think the panel have been too bad, really. BH doesn't seem to be saying much at all most of the time, but has made one or two killer comments, while appearing to praise the girls. Quite insightful comments which display what he really thinks of them as potential Nancys.

ALW is hilarious, and Graham Norton is just right for this show. DVO has looked close to tears for much of the series, and I think she's lost her sparkle. Maybe she's worried about her relationship with Lee ruining her credibility as a judge, even if their relationship DID start well after the end of the show. Who knows...

I wouldn't say it is my fav series, but it has been the most open so far.

At the start i was enjoying it...

Loved the auditions and Nancy school, those couple of weeks really got me excited for the first live show. I remember sitting waiting for it to start and then as soon as the first group song started i got SUPER excited and went a little bit silly

Can't say the excitement lasted as the series went on though

I don't think there was a particular thing which made me stop enjoying the show so much. It was probably a mixture of the judges, the actual format of the show and the song choices not being all that great some weeks. And now with Rachel gone and her being my fav from the start and a couple girls who deserved to be in the final not being there i don't really have an interest in who wins. I'll only be watching to see if AWL and CM get their way or not

Having said that, my weekend nights will definately not be the same and i will miss it

I've also met some quite disturbing Scottish braveheart re-enacters - but hey! You have to take the good with the bad!

Agree with mostof this;
ALW: has tried too hard to be contraversial, with his *get on the bus* amd meatloaf type of comment. It really doesn't suit him and sounds false. He's not Simon cowell: I really liked Maria and Joseph shows because they gave the contestants postive comments and weren't just a bitchfest.

I think the lack of postive feedback have been hard on the girls: they have been given so much contradictory instruction, and things that should have been picked up on have been let slide.

I haven't seen the same amount of improvement in the Nancys over the weeks as the Maria's and Josephs.
Jessie was quite a decent mover in week 4 for "why do fools fall in love" but since then she has been frightened to put one foot in front of the other. Why: because of unhelpful remarks from panel.

Sam's "somewhere" from week 3 was much better than her later weeks. She didn't grin throughout and did seem to connect with the song. The panel should have corrected her the moment she started with the nose wrinkle/head bob stuff. She had already proved that she didn't have to do the same performance for every song.

These girls have been given a wonderful opportunity and i think it is a shame that the"professionals" didn't help them get more out of it

I agree. Out of the three series this is the one where I really can't see a clear cut winner. All three girls are no doubt talented but, none of them is the complete package.

This series has reminded me of how good ADWD and HDYSAPLM were! There has been no-one who has stood out week after week the way Connie and Lee did. The 'professionals' have been disappointing (Fran and Rachel should have stood out, but neither gave anything like the strong, powerful performances you'd expect from people who have worked in the West End).

As for the panel:-

BH - Too much of a 'dirty old man' persona for my liking, which is a shame because there have been some decent comments in amongst all the dodgy ones.

DvO - My favourite panelist! Has been pretty constructive in her comments and seems to care about the contestants. I don't think she's lost her sparkle at all - she still seems like great fun!

JB - Has competely lost the plot! He was great in ADWD, but in this series he seems to have turned into a bully!

CM - Why, oh why was he not on the panel from the beginning? A bad mistake on his (or the programme makers') part.

ALW - Like JB, he seems to have forgotten the 'nurture, not torture' philosophy of ADWD and HDYSAPLM!

Hmmm, well, yes, on balance, I think it's been good. It's kept me indoors on a Saturday evening most weeks!

But the production needs an overhaul if they are going to do it again (which I doubt). The tasks, training and mentors they have had have hardly featured in the show. ALW made the comment in one interview that the Liza Minelli bit will take about 3 minutes in tonight's show, but they have an hour of good footage, which we won't see. They really should have had a support programme, even if only on BBC2, to provide more in-depth coverage.

The panel has not been helpful overall. I agree that the comments have been either gushing or hurtful, with little in-between and remarkably little positive criticism, which would have helped the contestants. Never thought I'd say this, but I missed Zoe Tyler.

Doing the results show on a Sunday evening? ..................... (fill in the mising words; DS is pretty well unanimous on this one).

Overall, IDA feels like ADWD/HDYSAPLM with added influence from X Factor, when it should have looked to Fame Academy.
