I'm inclined to agree. Thanks by the way.

so i guess we suspect that Rachel would have gotten the lowest number of votes due to this? there is no proof in thinking the whole isle would have voted for Sam anyway.

I feel this is rather presumptious...no one has actually an ideal breakdown on votes or who or what is going to be voting for whom or for that matter where the sway vote is going to go.

I guess who your 'favourite' is.

It will all go down to each of the three performances tomorrow. I reckon its quite close.

They don't know the voting numbers. They base their odds on how the betting is going. Put really simply, Lots of bets and money on girl A = short odds because this indicates a high chance that she will win. Little money on girl B = long odds because this indicates people don't rate her so the risk of her winning is low. I'm sure the betting experts will explain that much better.

Betfair is different from normal bookmakers as it is a betting exchange, ie it is members of the public who set the odds, by betting and also laying (acting as the bookmaker).

I am sure the bookies would love to have the BBC's voting figures, but it sounds like the figures are quite tightly held. If they knew that Jessie was going to win, they sure as hell would slash her odds and offer more enticing odds on the others.

Fwiw, the normal bookies' current odds are fairly similar to Betfair's, with the exception that Jessie is slightly narrower than on Betfair. Perhaps that's some BBC gophers having a dodgy flutter.

I can't see that the phone lines going down on the IOM made a significant difference last week. Reports said it was only one mobile network that was affected and it was only for a short time. Jodie will still get ALL my votes anyway.

I would hazzard a guess from what people have been saying on the forums that two things affected the votes last week (a) the phone lines and (b) a lot of people who voted for Jodie, Jessie or Sam also said they put in a vote or two for Rachel because of her performance so this would have given her those extra votes. I also read that the races were on last Saturday as well which might have affected things. By the way I have no idea what these races are but it's just what I have read.

I hope what my friend has told me is not true and that you are right. I want Jodie to win so I don't benefit from Jessie being ahead. I'll keep my fingers crossed and my phone line busy hoping that you are right Casper

By my calculations from what I was told for every person that votes for the winner the second place person needs 3 votes and the third place person needs approx 5 votes. That will make a hell of a difference. Still maybe things will change you never know. Here's hoping!!”

I think that you need to take a holiday.

Wow that must have been a kick in the teeth for Keith to hear. Still Lee was ahead from the beginning of the show. The problem with favourites is that people tend not to vote for them thinking it is a done deal. Look at X Factor and Rhydian. Hopefully that will happen tomorrow although the only problem is that most Jessie fans don't know she is the favourite. Actually we know that CM and ALW don't want Jodie so maybe letting everyone think she is the favourite is there way of enouraging Jessie and Sam fans to vote even more. We all know that CM would do anything to stop Jodie getting the role.

Or it's a clever ploy to make Jodie fans vote three times more than they would usually

If you'd been telling us the bottom two for the last few weeks I'd be more inclined to believe you - however, will take it with a pinch of salt. Hope you're right though!

Only the people at the show can tell you the bottom two. My friend works Monday to Friday so she finds out at the same time as the rest of us. She isn't even interested in it. She is more into car racing but she finds stuff out for me as she knows I care. If if would make you happy next season I will post the bottom two people on a new thread on Monday morning at 9.05 even though the whole world would already know!!

Exactly. I find it very difficult to believe your figures.
If miss X ( the gorgeous one in green ) has been in front most weeks it could only be by a very narrow margin.
I know this forum is not a large, or fully representitive sample of the voting public, but it is still extremely unlikely that we would be so far removed from the voting trends.

Just trying to get more votes for Jodie ?

well she prob wouldn't have been so far ahead when there were more competitors. There would prob have been far less between it.

I'd love to but I'm bed bound waiting for major back and coccyx surgery as well as just having undergone having my whole foot and ankle reconstructed so holidays are out at the moment. All I have is my bed, tv and laptop and DS to keep me happy.

Got it in one.

AFAIK Your friend would have to work at BTW to get the exact figure - as its them who operate the phone lines for IDA (which then have to be confirmed by another third party (note the IDA numbers are allocated to them)). The bottom and bottom two result is then called into TCS1, where a runner usually scribbles it down, and the producer is told, at this stage Graham is given it on a card (or told down the earpiece, depending on the production). Not even the panel or autocue operator knows the result, and it'll just have something along the lines of "<blank> you're not Nancy".
If your friend was found out to somehow manage to find out the figures they would be dismissed straight away.

Thank you for that thorough description of the process however, you missed one small point, I never said she knew on the night. I said she had just told me this information after finding it out for me and that she knew that the leader was Jessie and yes the phone line scandal had affected last week they suspected and that one week there was a difference of 9%. Now she is very very senior in the BBC and has access to all sorts of information and this was some general information that she gave to me. The 9% business was not given with any total number of votes so I don't know what it exactly stands for and as for the fact that Jessie was in the lead every week, well the bookies have known that as well. So thanks for all that info about the voting process which was very thorough but it does not affect the way I found out my information at all. It's all information after the fact hence not major amounts of secrecy needed (well in terms of what there is between the filming of Saturday night's show and the supposed Sunday show). Thanks anyway.
