I think if Jessie gets 4 performances including the prime Sat night spot, people will have every right to complain and the BBC could be in trouble. How many people voted when it got to the final two? If Jessie and Jodie are jobsharing the role, those votes were a total waste of time. And on top of all the phone-in scandals we've had lately too

I still don't know if and or why this is surprising to anyone.

Honestly, I have tickets for a saturday night and I'm completely cool with it. I would have booked just to see Rowan Atkinson, so am not overly bothered as long as the Nancy on the night does a reasonable job - it's not a role that will make or break my enjoyment.

I suspect the 4 shows were to cover any winner being unable to support 8. If people demand tickets for Jodie nights and the others suffer low bookings as a result, she will find the number of nights increase. It's an insurance policy, nothing more, and would have existed for all of the girls.

They cannot put Jessie in from the start, although perhaps after 6 months - not a bad thing if it gives her more development time. There are enough phone vote scandels without there being even more.

Jessie fans shouldn't worry. They will find her work!

If there is a bigger demand for Jodie's nights than the other nights then Jodie will quickly be pressed into service on a more frequent basis! We shall soon know.

As for Jessie! If she were to be employed at once there would be an uproar since it would make the vote redundant.

I don't think they've done this in case the winner can't "handle" doing 8 shows a week - Nancy is a comparatively small part when you look at Maria and Joseph.

It's clear that they didn't want to commit the winner to 8 shows a week in case their favourite didn't win, and that's what I disagree with. ALW and Cameron could train up Jessie over the next 6 months, and have her do the other 4 shows a week. In which case, what was the point of everyone voting for a "winner"?

Whenever you book to see a London show you run a risk of the cast being different from the one advertised.......

Also I seem to remember Connie having a lot of time off from Maria with sore throats and whatever. Maybe they - the producers - think that by splitting the role they will avoid the same problem happening with Nancy? Although, to be honest, I wouldn't have thought Nancy would be as demanding a role as Maria.

True- but you would have expected that the winner would get the Saturday matinee and night as these are the 'big' shows of the week.

I am going to call before I book tickets because if I vote for someone I don't want the replacement or CM's favourite sneaked in through the back door

I don't think it necessarily means the winner won't be doing Saturdays. As none of the 3 girls in the final have had any West End experience, it is likely that the girls would struggle with 8 shows a week. What they don't want to do is advertise the winner as doing all 8 shows, only to find that the winner can only cope with half that number. After all, both Lee and Connie had experience and both of them ended up doing 6 shows.

I don't think it means that Jodie won't be doing any Saturday shows. But this way, CM gets the best of both fans. Those who will only go to shows with Jodie in it, will book for these days (which are not as popular), whereas the Saturday shows will sell regardless of who is playing Nancy.

The latest is that Jodie will do both Saturday shows - but not confirmed on the Oliver website as yet.....

I just wish the panel hadn't banged on about '8 shows a week' all through the series if this wasn't true....

Complain about what quite. The competition was to find someobne to play Nancy. That all. They do not even have to put her in the show. There was no comtitment to how many apperances it could be zero.

The actual production is totally independent of the TV program. All you have voted for is someone who could play Nancy. There were no guarantees.

That is totally wrong, the prize agreed by all is for the winner to perform as Nancy in the westend. Can you cite any proof that this is not so?

Yes - and why go on about the winner needing to be able to do 8 shows a week???

I am pretty sure it was mentioned on several occasions that certain girls wouldn't have the stamina for 8 shows.

That's misleading isn't it?

LOL.

It's Cameron's production costing a lot of money and he can do what the frigging hell he wants.

It's beating me ATM how Jodie can possibly be ready to play in the West End being as she's never been remotely near that level and experience and even Lee, a seasoned pro and an exceptional talent had to work damn hard on Joseph to win over the critics who were ready to pounce.

If Cameron wishes to break the contract then he is going to lose a hell of a lot of money and prestege and any respect he has had in the past.
Jodie has proven herself over and over again but people can't help having cheap digs.

Actually Lee does all 8 shows a week, and has done from the beginning. He even managed to squeeze in a live IDA performance between the matinee and evening show on Sat

No she hasn't proved herself at all. Not on a WE MT stage. Neither had Jessie but I knew like Connie she wouldn't have played every show either had she won...it's common in the WE. I've seen a few substitutions in my past visits though thankfully I did see Lee.

Jodie's sung every week on a reality show and it seems she's already been on another reality show (I'm catching up) ergo she already has a bit of a 'following' which seems rather beside the point of a 'unknown' talent search and strikes me as rather attention seeking even before the whole Nancy rigmarole.

Anyways......

She will play the minimum contract. She might get Mama Morton in Chicago. But I can't see what role in MT she could do after that.

Where have you seen that? It still says 4 shows on the Oliver site.

The show was run with the idea of the public voting for the girl they most wanted to star as Nancy in the West End. That was the 'goal' they all worked towards.

Whatever Cameron's (or anyone else's) feelings, Jodie won. Fairly and squarely, and that's all there is to it. I thought I read somewhere that the contract was for 6 months, but could be wrong. If the powers that be find some loop hole to deprive Jodie of her hard-earned prize, then it will be the death knoll for any future show of its kind, and I would imagine the BBC would have something to say about it as well.

Jodie wasn't my overall favourite - Rachel was - but she got the votes. She is the one who the majority want to see, and good luck to her. I hope she acts and sings her socks off when the show opens, and gets rave reviews to beat all rave reviews!

No, she withdrew because it was obvious that she wasn't going to "get along" in the production. Which then lead to discussions with Connie about her doing all the performances.

I can remember that from the "Connie's Story" or whatever it was show.

Just a good job there wasn't traffic problems. I'm guessing he biked it.
