I'm a regular theatre goer but if Jessie wins this I won't be going to see this show!

I'm sorry to say that I can't stand Jessie as a performer. She is way too manly in her movements and mannerisms. She also seems unable to handle any kind of constructive criticism, and in my opinion has not shown much improvement over the course of the shows. It seems she is a big favourite to win the role which really surprises me. I'm sure she is a lovely person and my opinion is not based on her as a person, just her as a stage actress.

So even though I'm a huge theatre goer, I will not go to see Oliver if Jessie wins the role of Nancy!!!

Well, Jodie or Sam may still win.
Jessie may still improve if she gets the part.
And you may be able to see the alternate Nancy instead as the winner only seems to be contracted for 4 shows a week at the moment!

Avoid Monday, Tuesday or Friday evenings and you'll be OK.
Depending on the alternate. Connie Fisher, anyone? She's out of work.

I will take your place cos If Jessie wins then i will definitely be going to see her.
No matter who wins there will be some who wont go to see a certain girl.

S'alright, I'll (now) only be seeing it if Jodie wins. That's not meant to sound melodramatic, but I've seen Oliver! more times than is necessary, and there'd have to be a reason for me to want to watch it. If the alternate is Francesca, Keisha, Sarah, or Rachel (or indeed Jodie), I'd be willing to see it then, though.

They are just voicing their opinion, I am sure we have all done that at some point today!

A fair statement to make, i wouldnt go and see her as Nancy, in another role maybe!

True, I could go on a night when an alternate is playing Nancy. I just hope one of the other two ladies win. Either Sam or Jodie would be great.

I don't think it'll matter, a higher proportion of people seem to really like Jessie than dislike and I'm guessing that for many it would probably be a very good opportunity to see her before she's shafted into stardom and seeing her would be rarer. I've got a feeling that she is going to be a massive, massive star.

i'd see anyone, i'd be going to watch the whole thing, not concentrate on nancy. They can all sing, and in 6months time they should have been able to perfect things.

I think Jessie would be interesting to watch. It would show how much someone can improve in six months (or not), as although she is very talented, there are some areas which she really really needs to work on!

However, I reckon Jodie will win.

Interestingly the only winner who'll make me buy tickets to see this show is Jessie. Wouldn't complain if Jodie won but wouldn't go out of my way to see her in the show. Like a previous poster said - each of the remaining girls has the power to draw in audience members and turn other people off going to see it - it's one of the side effects of this being such a close run contest with no clear winner.

Yeah also Rowan Atkinson is a very big pull, as is Burn Gorman (if it's true.) Also many will just have fallen in love with the Olivers and will want to go see them too. S'not all about the Nancy!

Lol yes, slightly random but never mind (I love Newbury, btw, to be more random!)

To get it back on track I'll say that surely a lot of people won't go if a certain girl wins/doesn't?

I suppose it's also the down side to casting a west end show via a tv show. Yes, you get lots of publicity for your production, but you also might turn people off from coming to see it if they don't like the winner.

The problem as I see it, is that we've seen so little of any of them acting that none of us can make an informed opinion on their ability to "act" the role.

I would go to see any of the girls in the part as I think their strengths far outweigh any weaknesses they have at the moment.

Would it not be better to judge her as a stage actress AFTER seeing her in a production?
ESPIONdansant

Geogchick, that's a very good point.

Sadly I am quick to form an opinion. Too quick? And Jessie annoys the bejeezus out of me for various reasons.
I will try to watch her with a completely open mind this evening.
