I'm a regular theatre goer but if Jessie wins this I won't be going to see this show!

You do make a good point in that we haven't see her do a lot of acting in the sense of saying dialogue. But we've seen quite a bit of her acting on the show already. In musical theatre a lot of their acting is done whist singing. So based on what I've seen, I feel that she is not right for the part of Nancy and I would not want to pay money to see her in Oliver.

*ahem*
Jessie has just been nominated for the Best Female Actress for the Killarney Musical Society by AIMS. So surely she isn't that bad?

So even though I'm a huge theatre goer, I will not go to see Oliver if Jessie wins the role of Nancy!!!”

I agree with you I would not pay London theatre ticket prices to see Jessie.

I cannot bear it when the judges give her criticisim. She acts very desperate and is actually pleading for the part.

I also think she is awful when she asks for help as well when the judges are talking to her.

None of the other girls act so desperate.

i think maybe you should just face facts - you don't like her. Though I doubt for any of the above reasons. I imagine if your fav did something similar you would see it as endearing

No - she was nominated as best in Ireland for her role in the Killarney musical society production of Carousel.

No no no, best female actress who is in the Killarney MS. It's an AIMS award not just a local one. It was for her leading role in Carousel last summer (I think ???)

I'm confused about this award - I thouvght it was for the best in her music society? Is there someone who goes round all the amateur produactions in Ireland to work out who's the best? The mind boggles. Is There an equivalent one for the best in all of England? Or Wales? Or Scotland?

spot on!

I'm not quite sure how the judging works but I imagine the same way any theatre awards are give

Well I'll be selling my tickets if Sam wins. I just think she's more suited to a pop career and her voice just doesn't do it for me.

Normally I would be going to watch the whole thing. I know that can all sing but unfortunately how do we know whether they can act and move well. We haven't really been given a good opportunity to see this.

I really love the 3 Olivers and would love to see them on stage. At first I was put off that Rowan Atkinson would be playing Fagin as I hate his Mr Bean character but now I am intrigued how he would be in this role.

I am afraid if Jessie won the role I would definitely be put off going as I know I would personally be watching how her movement was and concentrating on the accent. Therefore I wouldn't be looking at the show as a whole and I wouldn't be able to relax.

It's an expensive way to find out at £60 a ticket whether she can act and dance. I do think she has a great voice though.

I too am a regular theatre goer and especially love going to the West End.

Well its the chance you normally take with shows.

I do agree however that programmes like this would make you focus on their weaknesses when watching it

That's exactly what I would be doing!! I forgot to mention the accent in my original post. I'm glad I'm not alone!!!

Show is starting now so I guess I will find out soon if I will be going to see Oliver!!

It seems a terribly final statement of intent about a show in which the actress involved is not central. I know she's not exactly a peripheral role but would you really boycott the show because of Jessie, if the reviews were brilliant and the Fagin actor was an acting genius.

It just seems a bit previous and possibly self defeating to say, 6 months before the show itself, that you will not attend.
