True, and was disappointed myself, but to be fair the choreography and the lyric didn't give them any great chance at interacting. For the most part Harry was walking in front of Sam, with his back to her. The lyrics of the other songs are about connections, with phrases that are directed at the performer and tell a story about a relationship. They are also from musicals that feature children (not sure that Truly Scrumptious is actually sung by children, is it) and are duets. Far more appropriate. Singing in the Rain is sung by a man (seemed too low for Harry), has no great narrative, and didn't give them any opportunity to connect. Harry connected brilliantly with Sarah so I'm blaming the song and the choreography. And possibly Sam, as the least maternal of the three. Were they trying to ensure a 'Two J's' final? Also was painfully aware that there's only 5 years between Sam and Harry.

Loved Jessie and Gwion, though, brilliant, and Laurence and Jodie were great too.

Jessie and Gwion were easily the best. There was actually chemistry there and it felt natural.”

Totally agree. Though to be fair, that was a very strange song to give Sam and Harry. It's not even a duet and it's not about making a connection like the other two are.

Jessie and Gwion were super. Jodie tried too hard and it looked forced to me.

I agree with both points. Gwoion is absolutely adorable and I'd love to see him play Oliver.

I'm worried about Harry after tonight's duet. Can't help but feel ALW might have made a bit of a blunder here.

Strange as Harry was the most experienced WE perfromer out of the 6 of them (having been ina CM production before). Wonder if his voice is beginning to change, as his vopice has been fine before.

I think Jessie and Gwion's duet was one of my favourite performances of the whole series

Jessie and Gwion definitely got the sweetest song with the most intimate choreography, which is why I think it stood out. Jodie and Laurence had to sing to each other around a bench and Sam and Harry were closer to their umbrellas than each other.

Jessie and gwion were unbeleivable. I actualy saw oliver and Nancy. They were so sweet together.
Sam and Harry had no chemestry what so ever, and Sam seemed to be trying to steel the performence.
Jodie and Larence were also very good.

not sure that Truly Scrumptious is actually sung by children

Yes, it is. It's sung by Jeremy and Jemima to Truly, who then joins in. (There's also a reprise, sung by their father Caractacus to Truly - both disguised as dolls.)

ORIGINAL LYRICS:

Jemima
Toot sweets sound like what they are

Jemima
So do lollys in a lollypop jar

Both
Gingerbread men have a gingerbread sound, we've found

Jemima
Sugar plum cinnamon and lemon tart
Tell you what they are right from the start

Both
And your name does the same for you
By coincidence, Truly Scrumptious
You're truly truly scrumptious
Scrumptious as a cherry peach parfait
When you're near us
It's so delicious
Honest, Truly, you're the answer to our wishes

Truly Scrumptious
Though we may seem presumptuous
Never, never, ever go away
Our hearts beat so unruly
Because we love you truly
Honest Truly, we do

Truly
Truly scrumptious
You two are truly scrumptious
Scrumptious as the breeze across the bay
When you're smiling
It's so delicious
So beguiling
You're the answer to my wishes
Truly scrumptious
You two are truly scrumptious
And I shan't forget this lovely day
My heart beats so unruly
I also love you truly

My heart beats so unruly
I also love you truly

All
Honest, Truly

Truly
I do

Singing in the Rain was the only one that isn't an 'adult with children' song. Seemed an odd choice.

I thought that was quite unfair - it was not a duet and it was not about an adult-child relationship, so there wasn't much scope for interaction between Sam and Harry.

That was unfair indeed! Wonder who decided on these songs?

I agree. Very strange songchoice. Both Sam and Harry made the best of it but it isnt a song that lends itself to being a duet let alone one between a child and adult.

I thought Jessie and Gwion were great. Really capture the older brother/younger sister type relationship that i see Nancy and Oliver having.

I know everyone says Nancy is a maternal figure but I've always felt she's very much like an older sister and I thought this was what gwion/jessie had
