Recommended media streamer
I'm after a media streamer that will allow me to stream audio and movies from my PC to me PC (currently a Panasonic TX-28PL10).
Can anyone give me an idea of quality products for this job? I currently have a Panasonic DMREH60, which I have been a little disappointed with. The skin tones are sometimes weird (grey), and text (digital teletext) seems very slow, so I may be looking for a replacement. Which may determine my media streamer choice? Finally, I still have loads of old VHS tapes with content I want to convert to a digital format - perhaps the DMREH60 has lots of use left in it? I'm a real beginner here, so please be gentle!

I think you plan to strean from PC to TV (Panasonic TX-28PL10), but it is not clear how replacing the other unit (a DVD recorder?) fits into this.
At any rate, for media streaming, I recommend using a DLNA certified product (aka a UPnP media renderer), allowing for growth into a network of devices from multiple vendors. Have a look at www.twonkyvision.de; they made a good and cheap DLNA- compliant server software. Look at their list of supported client devices and their user forum, that should give you lots of ideas. |

Yeah, do you homework
![]() I bought a D-Link NAS and alas it isn't a DNLA product so my PS3 can't directly access it meaning I have to go via the PC, not ideal but at the time networking media with a PS3 was not on my to do list. I tried Twonky and didn't really like it certianly not enough to pay for it after a month so ended up using TVersity. |
